MATCH RECAP: FC Tulsa Fall in the Desert

PHOENIX, Arizona (September 12, 2026) — A late goal from Delentz Pierre was not enough for FC Tulsa to overcome an early deficit on Saturday night as they fell to Phoenix Rising FC 2-1 on the road.

The hosts capitalized early on a header off a whipped in cross to take the lead in the sixth minute and place the Scissortails in an early hole. The Tulsa attack threatened a time or two in the first half but could not break through in the frame.

The Scissortails continued to push for an equalizer, controlling 70 percent of the possession in the second half, but were unable to score before Phoenix tacked on another in the 88th minute. Pierre’s late header off a feed from Wilson Eisner gave Tulsa some late life, but the visitors left Arizona without any points in hand.

Delentz Pierre’s goal was his second of the regular season while Wilson Eisner recording his first ever assist in a Tulsa kit.

MATCH RECAP: FC Tulsa Pick Up Road Point in the Alamo City

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (September 5, 2026) — Dane Jacomen secured his sixth clean sheet in his last nine matches as FC Tulsa earned a road point against San Antonio FC on Saturday night in a scoreless draw at Toyota Field.

The hosts controlled much of the early going with Jacomen called into action to prevent a few San Antonio scoring threats. The Scissortails were only able to create one shot in the opening 45 minutes and only had the ball 39 percent of the frame.

Things opened up a bit for Tulsa coming out of the locker room with the substitution of Remi Cabral livening up the attack, but ultimately, the attack could not find the back of the net. The back line for the Black and Gold lived up to their end of the bargain, however, and finished off their six clean sheet in its last nine league matches.

An early goal from Jeorgio Kocevski in the eighth minute was the difference as FC Tulsa took down Rhode Island FC 1-0 on Saturday night at ONEOK Field.

The Scissortails came flying out the gate with some exquisite passing sequences including one in the eighth minute which saw Remi Cabral flick a ball onto Kocevski who slotted it home to give Tulsa an early lead. The visitors had the higher share of possession in the period and more shots but were unable to break through in the opening 45 minutes.

Rhode Island continued to look for answers in the second half, but Dane Jacomen was up for the task with six saves on the night. The Tulsa back line did the rest of the work to see out the 1-0 victory and secure their tenth win of the regular season.

KEY STORYLINES

In the last week, FC Tulsa has announced long-term extensions for General Manager and Sporting Director Caleb Sewell and Head Coach Luke Spencer. Both have radically transformed the club’s on-field product in just under two seasons at the helm and immediately led the Scissortails to their best season in club history in 2025, culminating in a Western Conference championship last season and hosting the USL Championship Final, both firsts for the club. These moves reflect the club’s intentions to be among the league’s best in its on and off-field endeavors as the next chapter for FC Tulsa begins.

Jacomen’s fifth clean sheet of the regular season was good enough to both give him the club lead and earn him a spot on the USL Championship Team of the Week. His six saves were his most in league play this season as he continued his impeccable form between the sticks.

The Western Conference has been a bloodbath in 2026 with the gap between second place and eighth a mere six points. FC Tulsa currently finds themselves in the middle of that pack in a three-way tie for third place but has matches in hand on both El Paso and Orange County ahead of them. As the club continues to get players back from injury, the Scissortails are in prime position to make a late charge with matches left against five of its top six challengers.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Goalkeeper Dane Jacomen: Jacomen has been unreal since taking over the starting role in mid-July, allowing just three goals in his last eight starts with five clean sheets in this stretch. He currently boasts a staggering 0.55 GAA (goals allowed average) and an 81.3% save percentage in the regular season, cementing himself as a force to be reckoned with between the sticks for the Scissortails.

Midfielder Jeorgio Kocevski: Only two Scissortails have played in every single match across all competitions in 2026. One is Jamie Webber, and the other is Kocevski, an unsung hero for this club in the midfield. The Syracuse grad has grown immensely in his central midfield role over the course of the season and has been able to get more involved in the attack in recent weeks since Giordano Colli was inserted into the starting lineup above him in the formation. As the Black and Gold have dealt with injuries and new additions taking time to build chemistry, Kocevski has been a consistent presence and will be called on as the playoff push continues.

Forward Remi Cabral: The French forward has returned from a month-long absence and has been getting reacclimated to the Scissortail attack in recent weeks. Cabral helped set up Quimi Ordóñez’ first goal against Orange County before recording his first assist of the season on Kocevski’s match winner last weekend. As he continues to build his match fitness back up, he figures to be an integral part of FC Tulsa’s playoff pursuits as the regular season winds down.

This is the 25th meeting between Tulsa and San Antonio with this weekend’s hosts holding a slight lead. With this match, San Antonio will become the Scissortails’ most common opponent across all competitions.

The Guatemalan forward was alert again just 16 minutes later as he punished the hosts for an errant back pass to double the Tulsa lead.

The hosts pulled one back just two minutes into the second half and appeared to have momentum before disaster struck at the back with the goalkeeper mishandling a long ball from Ian Carlo Souza Daniel that Ordóñez calmly tucked away for his third goal of the night in the 55th minute.

After Kalil ElMedkhar drew a foul outside the box on a fast break later in the half, Delentz Pierre stepped up and fired the ensuing free kick into the bottom left corner for his first career FC Tulsa goal. Defender Lucas Stauffer: Much of the shine for FC Tulsa’s recent defensive prowess has gone to the reinstatement of the trio of Lamar Batista, Abdoulaye Cissoko and Ian Carlo Souza Daniel, but perhaps lost in that has been the play of Lucas Stauffer in the left wingback role over the last seven league matches for the Scissortails. The Kentucky native has limited opponent’s attacking threats on the right while also ranking third for the Scissortails in chances created (17).

Forward Logan Dorsey: Tulsa’s other midseason addition up top has been a consistent threat on goal the last two months with four goals across all competitions including one off the bench last weekend. The combination of himself, Ordóñez and Remi Cabral, who recently returned from an extended absence, give the Scissortails a variety of capable options in the attack for the home stretch of the season.

After the hosts created some early chances, the Scissortails dictated much of the flow for the first half. An apparent goal from Logan Dorsey was called back in the 26th minute, but he and the rest of the Tulsa attack continued to press the New Mexico back line but were unable to break through.

The hosts came out of the locker room the more aggressive side and began to test Tulsa’s defense, but Dane Jacomen and Co. were able to withstand much of the pressure. However, a penalty in the 83rd minute would find the back of the net to hand the Scissortails their second consecutive 1-0 defeat.

Tulsa was without Lamar Batista due to yellow card accumulation which saw Delentz Pierre take his spot in the eleven. Will Wilson also made his club debut as a second half substitute.

KEY STORYLINES

The Scissortails’ defense has returned to prominence over its last six contests allowing just two goals in that span with four clean sheets. The return of Lamar Batista from suspension should only enhance their efforts to capture a key result on the road.

The flip side of this stretch has seen some recent offensive ups and downs for the Black and Gold with three goals in their last six matches. The return of Remi Cabral should help this issue as the new acquisitions continue to develop familiarity with each other and understand each other’s tendencies in the final third.

The Western Conference has been turbulent in 2026 with any result, good or bad, likely to shoot or slide you somewhere new in the table. The gap between first place and being outside of the playoff picture is just six points as everyone continues to jockey for position and establish their form before the postseason arrives. The visitors woke up out of the locker room with an unfortunate deflection setting up a go-ahead strike for Detroit. Tulsa pushed time after time for an equalizer but could not find the final pass as the club’s four-match shutout streak came to an end.

The Scissortails’ club-record shutout streak of 441 minutes was snapped along with its streak of four clean sheets for goalkeeper Dane Jacomen. Forward Remi Cabral returned to action for the first time since June 20 as a second half substitute but could not steer a shot on net.

A sweet finish from midfielder Jamie Webber in the 66th minute helped FC Tulsa take down Sacramento Republic FC 1-0 on Wednesday night at ONEOK Field. The Scissortails extended their regular season shutout streak to 390 minutes, the longest in club history.

Goalkeeper Dane Jacomen was called into early action for the Scissortails with three saves in the opening ten minutes. From there, Tulsa created the majority of the chances in the first half with forward Arquímides Ordóñez serving as a spark plug in the attack. Multiple offsides calls, however, derailed their efforts for the most part as the match remained scoreless at the break.

Out of the locker room, the visitors seemed eager to tip the scale in their favor with a flurry of chances after a pair of halftime substitutions. The Tulsa back line turned them away though and continued their recent defensive prowess.

Logan Dorsey on back half of 2026 season: “It’s all about buying in, and when we’re bought in, we’re hard to beat. We’re taking things one match at a time and three points at a time. We want to make this place hard for other teams to win, and that’s what we know we do well. We’re just focusing on this match here at home and making sure we get three points out of it.”

Arquímides Ordóñez on what he brings to Tulsa: “They’ll see an aggressiveness. I try to be exciting on the ball and want to score as many goals as possible. It’s good to bring that mentality into a locker room with guys who also have a lot of experience as well. I know the fans are incredible here, so getting in front of them is going to be a good feeling.”
