The visitors came out aggressive in the attack early on and created some problems for the host. Knoxville ultimately found the back of the net in the 36th minute off a deflection after a couple of saves from Tulsa goalkeeper Alex Tambakis.

The hosts responded well in the second half with a pair of halftime substitutions – midfielder Bruno Lapa and defender Harvey St Clair – igniting the side. The progression in the attack resulted finally in a 73rd minute equalizer as a bouncing ball in the box found the foot of forward Remi Cabral who knotted things up at one.

Tulsa seemed poised to push for a match winner but were forced to sit back after defender Lamar Batista received his second yellow card in the 78th minute. Tambakis made a few saves in the penalty shootout, but they proved to not be enough as the Scissortails were forced to settle for a point.

Cabral found the back of the net for the third time across all competitions in 2026. This is the second consecutive shootout loss against the defending USL League One champion One Knoxville SC for FC Tulsa with the last one also featuring a red card from Batista.

KEY STORYLINES

An up-and-down start to the season mirrors that of last season for the Scissortails which preceded a club record 14-match regular season unbeaten streak. Tulsa will hope for a similar season trajectory as they look to reach their lofty preseason expectations in the Western Conference.

This week is an important one for Tulsa with back-to-back road tests against Western Conference opponents. The Scissortails’ midweek trek out to west Texas to take on red-hot El Paso Locomotive FC is quickly followed by the club’s second of four California flights this season to face a Monterey Bay FC side looking for a statement victory.

The Tulsa attack will look to match the pace set by its defense. The Black and Gold have allowed the fewest expected goals against (4.81) and shots per match (8.5) in the Western Conference but have also created the fourth fewest expected goals (7.51) in the conference.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Goalkeeper Alex Tambakis: In his return from injury, Tambakis was a steady presence in goal for the Scissortails outside of a deflection that got past him in the 36th minute. The league’s all-time leader in saves recorded three saves in regulation plus two more in the penalty shootout as he looks to get back into a rhythm and anchor a strong Tulsa defense.

Defender Harvey St Clair: Saturday’s match against Knoxville was a tale of two halves for Tulsa with momentum shifting at halftime with the addition of St Clair and Lapa to the lineup. The 27-year-old provided a much-needed spark on the right side of the attack creating several scoring chances off of direct passes and dangerous crosses into the box. If not for a late red card forcing him back into a more defensive position, St Clair’s play threatened to provide a match winner for the Scissortails in regulation.

Forward Remi Cabral: The Frenchman scored in his third different competition for the Black and Gold this season, finding himself in the right spot at the right time against Knoxville to level the match at one in the second half. Cabral’s knack for goal has been on partial display so far this season and will be called upon even more as Tulsa look to find some more consistency in the final third.

This is the 11th meeting between Tulsa and El Paso with Locomotive holding an edge in the all-time series. Last season, late match heroics from Kalil ElMedkhar and Stefan Lukic secured two 1-1 draws for the Scissortails during the regular season.

El Paso are riding high at the moment after a 2-1 road win against Orange County SC, the current Western Conference leaders, in the USL Cup last Saturday. The Scissortails found themselves in an early hole after a header off a long diagonal ball from the hosts in the fourth minute created an immediate uphill climb. Tulsa failed to create many threatening chances offensively but received some help when Oakland went down to ten men in stoppage time right before the break.

This lifeline energized the Black and Gold who came out of the locker room with a flurry of attacking threats to begin the second half. Both midfielder Jeorgio Kocevski and forward Stefan Lukic hit the woodwork in the opening ten minutes of the period, but it was clear that a goal seemed inevitable.

That sentiment paid off in the 70th minute as midfielder Owen Damm connected with forward Bailey Sparks who headed home the cross to level the match. More chances came for the Scissortails late in the match to find a winner, but ultimately, they had to settle for a point in their first road USL Championship match in 42 days.

Sparks found the back of the net for the second time this season while Damm also logged his second assist, both the first Tulsa players to record multiple of either statistic in league play this season. Tonight was the sixth matchup between Tulsa and Oakland with the home team still never recording a victory in the series.

KEY STORYLINES

This is the third year of the USL Cup after it launched in 2024 in USL League One. Unlike regular season matches, USL Cup matches will not end without a victor. If tied after 90 minutes, the match will go to a penalty shootout which promises more excitement to the tournament.

This was the fourth matchup for FC Tulsa against an MLS opponent in the Open Cup as the club still searches for its first such victory. The visitors picked things up in the second half and took the lead by slotting home a loose ball in the 55th minute against the run of play. Tulsa pushed for a late equalizer with St. Clair hitting the post on the cusp of stoppage time, but ultimately, they couldn’t hit the mark in their first home regular season loss in 364 days.

Tonight’s loss snaps an 18-match home unbeaten streak in regulation across all competitions for FC Tulsa at ONEOK Field and a 14-match home regular season unbeaten run dating back nearly a full calendar year. Both are the longest such streaks in club history.

The Scissortails took down San Antonio FC at Toyota Field in the Second Round with Remi Cabral’s late goal in the 106th minute serving as the difference in the 1-0 victory. Both sides did not have much luck on the offensive end early on with most shots flying over the frames on either side. The hosts outshot Tulsa 5-4 in the opening 45 minutes, but the Black and Gold were up for the challenge to keep a clean sheet at the half.

Yellow cards were routinely handed out during the physical affair and came back to bite the hosts who went down a man in the 97th minute. The Scissortails took advantage of this to start the second period of extra time as Owen Damm forced an errant back pass that found the feet of Cabral who took the ball around the keeper and pushed Tulsa into the lead.

The attention quickly turned to the defense after that with San Antonio trying desperately for an equalizer. The Tulsa back line held firm, however, and handed their Alamo City counterparts their first defeat of 2026.

FC Tulsa will continue its 2026 Open Cup campaign in The Lou against Major League Soccer side St. Louis City SC at Energizer Park on Wednesday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. The match will take place at Energizer Park and will be streamed on Paramount+. The winner of this match will take on the winner of Detroit City FC and Chicago Fire FC in the Round of 16 on April 28 or 29.

Midfielder Jamie Webber earned a selection to the U.S. Open Cup Team of the Round after his standout performance, being active on both sides of the ball for the Scissortails in their 1-0 victory. He recorded a season-high four chances created while logging a team-high 77 touches. On the defensive end, he also logged three interceptions, won all four of his tackles and 12 duels to help keep the clean sheet.

Saturday’s match is the fourth consecutive league match at ONEOK Field for FC Tulsa and will be nearly a year since its last home regular season loss (4/12/25 vs. Oakland Roots SC). PLAYERS TO WATCH

Goalkeeper Dane Jacomen: Starting the last two matches for the Black and Gold, Jacomen has certainly made a name for himself among the Tulsa faithful. He has recorded nine saves across his three starts in 2026 including a Save of the Round nomination for his crucial stop in the 78th minute against San Antonio FC.

Defender Owen Damm: It’s a bit early in the season to hand out awards for most improved player, but Damm is making a strong case in the early going in 2026. The Kentucky native has flourished for the Scissortails on the left hand side both in the attack and on the defensive end as shown by his on-ball pressure which forced the turnover that led to Tulsa’s 1-0 victory over San Antonio last week in Open Cup play. His pace and ability to create for teammates have cemented him as a key component for the Black and Gold moving forward.

Forward Remi Cabral: Most of the FC Tulsa attack has been a committee approach to begin 2026, but Cabral has impressed in his playing time so far this season largely off the bench. With two goals as a substitute already this year, the Frenchman has shown his ability to become a focal point up top if needed. As the club looks for consistency up top as the season goes on, Cabral is making a strong case to see his number get called.

This is the 16th meeting between Tulsa and Orange County with the California side holding a lead in the all-time series with eight victories. FC Tulsa finished out its three-match homestand with a 1-1 draw against Phoenix Rising FC last Saturday night at ONEOK Field. Both sides showed up defensively in the opening 45 minutes with the visitors having the better of the chances early on. Goalkeeper Dane Jacomen came up big for the Scissortails with two key saves to keep things scoreless heading into half.

Five minutes into the second half, Tulsa managed to break through after a Phoenix turnover deep in their own end of the field. A cross from midfielder Jamie Webber then found the feet of midfielder Bailey Sparks who found the back of the net for his first time in a Black and Gold uniform to give the Scissortails the 1-0 lead. 

Tulsa had chances to widen their advantage in the second half in the minutes after the goal but couldn’t double their lead. Phoenix then capitalized in transition to even up the match and steal a late point for themselves.

Sparks’ second start for the club reaped his first career goal for FC Tulsa while Jacomen also made his first USL Championship start for the Scissortails. Today’s draw extended Tulsa’s home unbeaten streak in regulation to 18 matches with their last home defeat coming on May 31, 2025 against Birmingham Legion FC.

After failing to find the net in its opening two contests, FC Tulsa has scored eight goals in its last three matches to recapture their attacking prowess. In a back-and-forth affair, midfielder Owen Damm’s late strike gave FC Tulsa a 3-2 victory over Las Vegas Lights FC on Saturday night at ONEOK Field.

FC Tulsa created numerous attacking threats early but couldn’t capitalize to start the match. This led to the visitors taking advantage of a generous deflection to go up 1-0 in the 32nd minute. Their lead was short-lived, however, as forward Kalil ElMedkhar cleaned up some commotion in the box to even things up nine minutes later right before halftime.

The Lights came out firing to start the second half and forced goalkeeper Alex Tambakis to make some key saves. Against the run of play, Tulsa managed to jump on top with Damm finding the head of halftime substitute forward Remi Cabral in his 100th regular season appearance in the 61st minute to go up 2-1. Five minutes later, however, Las Vegas found a smooth equalizer of their own to bring the match back to a stalemate.

The Scissortails made a few more substitutions to go for the three points at home. Then, in the 81st minute, defender Delentz Pierre niftily slid the ball back into the path of Damm on the left side of the box who smashed it inside the near post for a match winner. Tulsa saw out some late chances from the Lights to capture its first USL Championship victory of 2026 and keep its unbeaten resumé against Las Vegas intact.

The Scissortails controlled the attack early on and finally found the back of the net once defender Harvey St. Clair volleyed home a cross from forward Bruno Lapa in the 19th minute. The lead then was doubled by an absolute rocket from close to 30 yards out by forward Jamie Webber whose strike should contend for the goal of the opening round.

The hosts came out firing to start the second 45 minutes and cut their deficit in half just six minutes in. Goalkeeper Dane Jacomen came up with some key saves to keep the Scissortails in front, however, before defender Lamar Batista headed in a free kick by Webber reasserted the two-goal advantage. A late goal from Little Rock in the 85th minute was responded to less than a minute later by newcomer forward Nelson Pierre to seal the deal for the Black and Gold.

Lapa and Pierre each recorded their first goal contributions for FC Tulsa while Jacomen and Alonzo Clarke made their Scissortail debuts. St. Clair, Webber and Batista all got on the scoresheet for the first time in 2026 as well.

KEY STORYLINES

FC Tulsa created numerous attacking threats but were unable to find paydirt in a 0-0 draw against San Antonio FC on Saturday night at ONEOK Field in the club’s 2026 home opener. The Lights are looking to bounce back after a rough 2025 campaign which saw them finish 12th in the Western Conference with a league-low 23 goals scored. LAST TIME OUT

FC Tulsa created numerous attacking threats but were unable to find paydirt in a 0-0 draw against San Antonio FC on Saturday night at ONEOK Field in their 2026 home opener.

The hosts came out of the gate with a flurry of attacking threats with Owen Damm and Harvey St. Clair dishing up some dangerous crosses. Play leveled out after the hydration break with neither team finding the back of the net in the opening frame. It was more of the same in the second half with the Scissortails outshooting San Antonio seven to five and holding 56 percent of possession. Remi Cabral and Stefan Lukic both had decent chances as late substitutes, but the scoreline remained blank after 90 minutes.

KEY STORYLINES

FC Tulsa advanced to the Third Round of the 2025 U.S. Open Cup propelled by wins against Tulsa Athletic and Forward Madison FC. Their run ultimately was spoiled by Phoenix Rising FC in a 5-3 loss on penalties.

The Scissortails’ best run in the tournament was in 2024 where they reached the Round of 16 behind wins over Northern Colorado Hailstrom FC and Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC before falling to eventual finalists Sporting Kansas City. Including that matchup, FC Tulsa have faced competition from Major League Soccer sides on three occasions with the earliest possibility for that in this year’s edition coming in the Third Round (Round of 32).

The early rounds of the Open Cup see USL Championship sides often showcase much of their reserve and youth talent. With a home league match at the weekend for the Black and Gold against Las Vegas, we could expect to see some lineup shuffling for this midweek clash.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Goalkeeper Triston Henry: The Canadian international should get the call between the sticks for the Scissortails on Wednesday night. Henry featured in six matches last season for Phoenix Rising FC while having a connection with sporting director and general manager Caleb Sewell from his time with Memphis 901 FC.

Defender Owen Damm: After coming on as a substitute in the season opener at Sacramento, Damm put in an effective shift on the left-hand side for Tulsa in their home opener last Saturday against San Antonio. The 22-year-old was everywhere on the pitch with a team-high 57 touches while winning five fouls and eight duels.

Forward Nelson Pierre: On loan from Vancouver Whitecaps FC in MLS, Pierre enjoyed a breakout season with their reserve side in MLS Next Pro tallying 13 goals in 22 appearances. The 20-year-old will be called on for his goal-scoring prowess and ability to recover quickly defensively.

OPPONENT INFO: Little Rock Rangers SC

Little Rock Rangers SC are a USL League Two side comprised mostly of collegiate and semi-professional players. Last season, they topped the Mid-South Division with an 8-1-3 (W-L-D) record advancing to the conference quarterfinal before falling to Dothan FC. The side returns Alejandro Padilla for 2026, the Mid-South Division Player of the Year and member of the Southern Conference Team of the Year.

Head coach Luke Spencer on team performance in home opener: “I think overall, it was a good performance from an effort and intensity standpoint. I thought we created enough chances, certainly enough set -piece opportunities. I just think we need to be cleaner in the final action finish. If I look at the growth from the game at Sacramento to this game, I’m very pleased with the growth that we saw.” 

Spencer on keeping players fresh with early match congestion: “That’s something we spoke about early on in preseason. Everybody’s going to be needed. Everybody needs to be prepared to take their opportunity when it comes. For us, we’ll review this past game, see how everybody’s feeling and see if we need to rotate the squad or if we can keep some consistency.”

Alex Tambakis on defensive intensity: “Last year playing with New Mexico, I saw that this club is really good defensively. Everybody defends really well here and does it together from the striker to the keeper. That’s something that FC Tulsa is known for defensively – keeping clean sheets. We were just a little unlucky up top.”

Owen Damm on prevalence of long throws in Tulsa attack: “I think [long throws] were a big part of our identity last year. For us, it is a set piece, and set pieces win games. The center of our identity is set pieces, and we had probably 20 of them on Saturday. To not get a goal is disappointing, but on the bright side, we are getting those set piece opportunities, and we didn’t concede, so there’s something to take away from this game.”

KEY STORYLINES

FC Tulsa will look to capitalize on last season’s club-best campaign as the Scissortails took home the Western Conference championship after earning the one seed behind 57 points in the regular season (16W-5L-9D). The club set a record with 50 goals in league play last season while also tallying 10 clean sheets defensively.

Fans of the Black and Gold will not have to wait long to get their fix of FC Tulsa as the club’s next four regular season matches all will take place at ONEOK Field over the next five weeks including the next three in a row. Three of the four opponents were playoff sides in 2025 providing the Scissortails with early tests in their quest to repeat as Western Conference champions.

FC Tulsa suffered their first defeat of 2026 on the road against Sacramento Republic FC last Saturday in 2-0 fashion. The Black and Gold created more chances and held more possession in the final third, but two late second-half goals from the home side were the difference in the match.

The club made a notable splash in the transfer window when it announced the departure of forward Taylor Calheira for a club-record fee to Major League Soccer side Sporting Kansas City on February 19. The goal-scoring responsibilities will now shift to a slew of attacking options that helped FC Tulsa boast the highest scoring offense in the Western Conference a season ago.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

D Lamar Batista: In the club’s signature 3-4-3 approach, Batista served as a stalwart at the left center back position. He finished second across all of the Championship in clearances in 2025 (203, including postseason) and already tallied four in the season opener at Sacramento.

D Abdoulaye Cissoko: The team captain, “AB” was a key reason why Tulsa’s back line held ten clean sheets in the regular season last year. Back for more in 2026, Cissoko looks to keep things up and help lead the Black and Gold to new heights. 

F Jamie Webber: Last season, Webber was a solid attacking piece for the Black and Gold with six total goal contributions, but the South African forward really made a name for himself in the postseason where he logged a goal and two assists on the club’s Western Conference championship march. Now for 2026, Webber figures to be a more high profile part of the Scissortail attack as he looks to keep Tulsa’s offense as one of the elite units in all of USL.

NEW ADDITIONS

G Alex Tambakis: One of the league’s best keepers historically arrives in Oklahoma hoping to continue his storied career donning the Black and Gold. Tambakis, the Championship’s all-time leader in saves, should provide further leadership to an already stonewalled defensive core.

F Bruno Lapa: Lapa, a two-time all-USL selection, returns to USL after a year abroad in South Korea. He figures to serve as a dangerous attacking midfielder with both secondary scoring ability and the tools to create for others in the final third.

San Antonio FC will look to make another postseason run as the club looks to continue their formidable form under Carlos Llamosa. SAFC were hampered by injuries last season that held them back from reaching their full potential but still were in the mix for a home playoff match late last season. The club hopes to duplicate that success and climb back on top of the league for their second USL Championship win in 2026.

Club mainstays Mitchell Taintor and Jorge Hernandez (goal last week against Phoenix) return from last season while new additions Mikey Maldonando and Akeem Ward, both from Colorado Springs, add some positional versatility for SAFC. Cristian Parano (two assists last week against Phoenix) also returns to the Alamo CIty for a side that knows how to keep a potent attack.

– The 2025 squad set the single-season club scoring record with 50 goals in the regular season.

– Last season, FC Tulsa held the lowest possession percentage (43.58%) of any playoff side in the USL Championship.

– Despite that, they won back possession the second most times in the Championship last season (125, behind Loudoun United FC).
