Two second half goals from the hosts forced FC Tulsa to settle for just a point in a 2-2 draw against Brooklyn FC at Maimonides Park last Saturday evening.
The hosts were quickly handicapped by an early red card in the 17th minute. The Scissortails cashed in after this with Wilson Eisner squeezing through a shot from outside the box in the 29th minute to give Tulsa the lead. That advantage was then doubled in the 37th minute as Jeorgio Kocevski found the head of Delentz Pierre who snuck the ball under the crossbar to make it 2-0 going to the locker room.
A 10-man Brooklyn side came out more aggressive in the second half, and it paid off with a long ball one-on-one opportunity cutting their deficit in half in the 63rd minute. A late foul from Giordano Colli just on the edge of stoppage time then set the table for the hosts to tie the match in the 92nd minute and deal a blow to the Scissortails’ hopes of playoff soccer at ONEOK Field.
KEY STORYLINES
September’s road trip to this point has not been overly kind to the Scissortails with a pair of draws being all the club has to show so far. As the jockeying continues for a top four finish and at least one home playoff match, there is work left to do in these last six matches for Tulsa to get the chance to reach its preseason aspirations.
The Western Conference has been a bloodbath in 2026 with the gap between third place and eighth a mere two points. FC Tulsa are currently in a four-way tie for fourth place, ahead of San Antonio and Sacramento but behind Lexington. With a magic number of 12 points for the Black and Gold to clinch a second straight playoff berth for just the second time in club history, there are still many opportunities for the Scissortails to shake up the table and make another late season surge.
As the club’s four-match away spell comes to an end, Tulsa enters perhaps its most perilous three-match stretch of the season, all in a nine-day span. El Paso Locomotive FC, the current Western Conference leaders, welcome head coach Luke Spencer’s squad to the Sun City for a second time in 2026 before the Scissortails return home for a midweek clash against second-place New Mexico United followed by Sacramento Republic FC at the weekend. As the remaining schedule unfolds, Tulsa’s fate is very much in its hands as it faces challenger after challenger in the Wild West.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Defender Delentz Pierre: Through his first 51 matches with FC Tulsa, the Haitian defender had been a solid central option for the Scissortails on the back line but not gotten on the scoresheet. Over the course of his last five starts, however, Pierre has become a goal-scoring machine, tallying three goals and blossoming into a go-to man on set piece opportunities as he continues to add new elements to his game.
Defender Wilson Eisner: The San Diego FC loanee has been a lively addition to the Tulsa attack in the right wingback position. In his first two starts the last two weeks, he has contributed a goal and an assist while building partnerships on the right side of the formation. In his Team of the Week effort against Brooklyn, he finished the match with a team-high 101 touches while completing 52 of 65 passes to go with 14 final third entries.
Forward Remi Cabral: Since returning to the squad last month, the French forward has taken some time to rediscover his footing in a more crowded forward rotation. Cabral will look to get back on track against an El Paso side he logged a brace against earlier this season at Southwest University Park.
OPPONENT INFO: BROOKLYN FC
This is the 13th meeting between Tulsa and El Paso with Locomotive holding a slight edge in the all-time series. Tulsa has picked up points in six of its last seven matchups with El Paso including a pair of victories in 2026.
These two sides squared off in El Paso back on April 29 with the Scissortails coasting to a 4-1 victory buoyed by a brace from Remi Cabral and a pair of assists from Jeorgio Kocevski. On July 18, it was a more defensive affair between the clubs with the Black and Gold winning 1-0 off a Lamar Batista goal from a set piece.
First year head coach Junior Gonzalez has Locomotive on a tear right now as eight consecutive league wins have propelled them from out of the playoff picture to first place in the Western Conference. Locomotive will be without current USL Championship Golden Boot leader Rubio Rubín (international duty) on Friday night, but Alex Méndez (9 goals) and Amando Moreno (6 goals, 4 assists) both still demand attention from Tulsa. El Paso has improved defensively as the season has progressed but has allowed goals in its last four matches.
