LAST TIME OUT
USL Championship Regular Season
Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC 2:0 FC Tulsa
Saturday, October 24, 2026 – Weidner Field – Colorado Springs, Colorado
FC Tulsa fell in its regular season finale last Saturday night in a 2-0 defeat against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Weidner Field.
It was a very physical and controversial first half with the referee getting involved early on. A hand ball from Ian Carlo Souza Daniel would give the Switchbacks a penalty which was converted by Khori Bennett. The Scissortails went up a man in stoppage time of the opening frame with Patrick Burner receiving his second yellow card for the hosts.
Despite controlling possession with a man advantage, Tulsa was unable to do much with it as the Switchbacks would double their lead in the 60th minute on a counter play from Sam Williams. The Black and Gold finished with just three shots on the night and head into the playoffs as the seventh seed.
KEY STORYLINES
The Scissortails are back in the postseason for the second consecutive season. This is just the second time that the club has made the playoffs in back-to-back years (2020-21) with this also being the first road playoff match since 2021. Tulsa fans will reminisce about last season’s fairy tale postseason run and hope for more magic in 2026.
Injuries have plagued the Black and Gold in 2026, but the club is finally getting healthy at the right time. Owen Damm and Boubacar Diallo have returned to the fold this month with Marcos Cerato making his season debut two weeks ago. With the playoffs peering around the corner, head coach Luke Spencer finally has his full arsenal of players at his disposal as the Scissortails are set to defend their Western Conference crown.
The Black and Gold are no strangers to pressure as 13 players return from last season’s Western Conference-winning side. This side knows how to win meaningful games and how to shut their opponents down after not allowing a goal across four playoff matches in 2025. It’s a new year with new talent, but the sting of a USL Championship Final is sure to fuel the club to finish what they started.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Defender Owen Damm: The 23-year-old wingback has produced a much-needed spark for the Black and Gold since returning from injury a few weeks ago. He provides a valuable dimension to this Tulsa side with his ability to lock down a side of the pitch a luxury in this league. Damm is likely to be leaned on as the season winds down to give a spark to the club’s playoff aspirations.
Midfielder Jamie Webber: It would not be an overstatement to say that most of the Tulsa attack has run through the South African international this season. Having appeared in 35 of the club’s 36 matches across all competitions, he has been the primary facilitator in the midfield and showcased the ability to perform on both sides of the pitch. If the Scissortails are destined for another deep postseason run, it will likely feature an inspired effort from Webber to see the club repeat the highs of 2025.
Forward Logan Dorsey: Since arriving in Oklahoma in June on loan from Minnesota United FC, Dorsey has been a focal point up top for the Scissortails. He has appeared in all 21 matches that he has been available for and is now tied as the club’s leading goalscorer in league play with Remi Cabral. In an attack looking for some consistency, he has shown the ability to make plays happen and show up in big moments.
OPPONENT INFO: SACRAMENTO REPUBLIC FC
This is the 20th meeting between Tulsa and Sacramento with this Sunday’s hosts holding a lead in the all-time series. These two sides have faced off three times in 2026 – a 2-0 road loss for the Scissortails in the season opener on March 7, a 1-0 home win on August 5 from a Jamie Webber goal and a 1-1 draw at ONEOK Field on October 3. Neill Collins’ side is unbeaten in their last 13 matches and 17 of their last 18 in league play. Their one defeat, however, came at the hands of FC Tulsa in early August.
Kyle Edwards has led the Sacramento attack this season with ten goals, nine of which came off the bench, good for the most in the league. Sacramento will look for veteran striker Cal Jennings to also pick things up in the postseason along with Forster Ajago. Memo Rodriguez ranks second in the league in assists (9) and scored a late equalizer against Tulsa in the two sides’ October matchup. Lee Desmond and Jared Timmer anchor a strong back line for the visitors with Danny Vitiello leading the Western Conference in clean sheets (10).
KEY STATISTICS
– Tulsa has allowed just ten first half goals in the regular season, the lowest mark in the Western Conference, while Sacramento has allowed the fewest in the second half (11).
– FC Tulsa is tied for the Western Conference lead in clean sheets (12).
– Dane Jacomen finished the regular season with 0.90 goals allowed per match, the best average from a Tulsa goalkeeper in club history.
RECENT QUOTES
Head coach Luke Spencer on value of experience: “Experience definitely helps in the playoffs. We have some older experienced players who have been in this environment, and having been there before, they know what it feels like and what their routine is in those moments. That definitely helps, but more importantly, it’s just about our preparation and execution in the game.”
Spencer on matching physicality of opponents: “We’ve been a physical team all year. That’s our identity and is not going to change. I think the challenge on the road is that the crowd is against you, and sometimes that can sway how the game is called, so we’ve been up against that. I’m proud of the way that the guys have dealt with it, and that’s only going to make us better and more prepared as we enter the postseason.”
Abdoulaye Cissoko on players coming back from injury: “It’s good to have everyone back. It’s brought more competition to the roster and for spots in the starting eleven. The competition for each position raises the overall level of the team. It’s really nice to see Bouba and Owen back. We’re still integrating everyone back into our DNA and everything, but it’s great to have more numbers back.”
Cissoko on club mindset entering postseason: “We have to focus on the new competition now and take it one game at a time. The record of every team is 0-0-0 right now, and I think we can be the most dangerous team in the playoffs. The way we play, the way we fight and our DNA make us hard to beat. We know Sacramento is a really good team, so we’re going to be ready for them.”
Logan Dorsey on what club needs moving forward: “For us, it’s about completing a game. I feel like we haven’t been able to put the whole thing together. Obviously, we have at times, but we need more consistency, and that’s what we’re searching for. It’s back to the drawing board to see what we can improve on in film and then move on.”
