TULSA, Oklahoma (Thursday, October 10th, 2019) – This Saturday Tulsa Roughnecks FC will host New Mexico United in USL Western Conference play. Kickoff from ONEOK Field (Tulsa, OK) is set for 7:00 P.M. CDT.

This USL Championship match will be the second time the two sides meet this season. The first match at Isotopes Park (Albuquerque, NM) ended in a 2-1 loss for the Tulsa Roughnecks. Tulsa Roughnecks only goal in that game came from Defender, Luca Lobo who has 7 goals so far this season.  

Tulsa Roughnecks FC enter the match with a 7-15-10 record sitting 16th in the USL Championship Western Conference with 31 points. Tulsa Roughnecks fell to Sacramento Republic last Saturday with a 3-2 score line. Goals in the last match were scored by Janu Silva and Marlon.

New Mexico United have a 10-19-12 overall record this season and currently sit in 10th place, the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. New Mexico United have three games remaining in regular season to hold onto that final playoff spot. 

Saturdays match will be the second to last home match for Tulsa this season with the final home game being the following Saturday against Reno 1868 FC. The Tulsa Roustabouts will be tailgating on Elgin before the gates to ONEOK field open at 6:00pm.

TULSA, OK– The Tulsa Roughnecks played host to Sacramento Republic FC in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday, October 5th at ONEOK Field.

 

After a day full of rain, the match began with each team adjusting to the wet pitch. In the 13th minute, Sacramento Republic FC was able to take advantage of the wet conditions and capitalized off a misjudged a bounce by the Tulsa Roughnecks defense. Villyan Bijev found himself behind the backline and alone versus Sean Lewis and tucked the ball into the bottom corner. In the 19th minute, Thomas Enevoldsen eased the ball into the bottom corner of the Tulsa Roughnecks goal after a pass by Drew Skundrich was dummied by Cameron Iwasa at the top of the Tulsa Roughnecks 18-yard box. The Tulsa Roughnecks cut the deficit in the 31st minute as Marlon flicked a header to the back post off a Rodrigo da Costa set piece. The Tulsa Roughnecks leveled the score at two in the 40th minute as Janu Silva flicked a Rodrigo da Costa cross into the back of the net from 15 yards out. The half ended with Sacramento Republic FC pressure, but the half ended level.

 

The second half saw Sacramento Republic FC taking the lead in the 59th minute after Thomas Enevoldsen headed the ball to the back post to find Cameron Iwasa who buried the ball into the Tulsa Roughnecks goal. In the 68th minute the rain began to pour over ONEOK Field, but the match played on. The Tulsa Roughnecks kept pushed for the equalizer throughout the half with chances from Panin Boayke and Rodrigo da Costa, but reluctantly came up just short leaving the score 3-2 to Sacramento Republic FC.

The Tulsa Roughnecks are back at home on October 12th, to take on New Mexico United at ONEOK Field.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC enter the match with a 7-13-11 record sitting 16th in the USL Championship Western Conference with 31 points. Tulsa Roughnecks last match was 1-1 tie against Tacoma Defiance.  The sides only goal in Tacoma was scored by forward Toby Uzo. After scoring the first goal of that game Uzo received his second yellow card and was sent off in that match, he will be unavailable for selection against Sacramento Republic.

Sacramento Republic have a 13-12-6 overall record and a 5-8-2 away record. Sacramento currently sit in 6th in the Western Conference and will be pushing to finish high in the standings. Cameron Iwasa leads the Republic scoring 13 goals in 27 appearances. University of Tulsa (NCAA D1) graduate and Tulsa Athletic (NPSL) midfielder Ray Sarri has been out of Sacramento Republic’s travelling roster but will be a player Roughnecks Head Coach Michael Nsien will know well.

TACOMA, WA– The Tulsa Roughnecks travelled to Tacoma, Washington, to take on The Tacoma Defiance in Tulsa’s final away game of the season.

Both teams entered the match searching for points to improve their final placement in. the USL Western Conference standings. Tulsa dominated the majority of possession moving the ball well and creating numerous half chances. The better of the chances in the first half fell to Tulsa’s Marlon; his shot just wide on two occasions from identical chances. Tulsa and Tacoma entered halftime scoreless.

Tulsa again started the half the more dominant team with Tacoma’s front line pressing harder. Tulsa continued to create chances that coach Nsien would have hoped they converted. The deadlock was broken in the 60th minute when Tulsa Roughnecks forward, Toby Uzo, scored a header from the back post. The goal was assisted by Cristhian Altamirano. From the highs of scoring Tulsa’s goal, Uzo was the recipient of his second yellow card 15 minutes later and was sent off in the 75th minute. With Tulsa looking to hold onto their 1-0 lead a man down, the tide changed with Tacoma naturally possessing more of the game. Tulsa Roughnecks defended well for the next 11 minutes, but Tacoma made the most of their extra man scoring the game equalizer in the 86th minute. Shandon Hopeau scored the game tying goal for Tacoma that saw the game end 1-1.

The Tulsa Roughnecks but are back at home Saturday, October 5th to take on Sacramento Republic FC at ONEOK Field. The Sacramento game will be in partnership with the McNellies group hosting over 80 breweries around the concourse.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC enter the match with a 7-13-10 record sitting 16th in the USL Championship Western Conference with 30 points. Tacoma Defiance sit 18th in the table, 10 points less that Tulsa. The last playoff spot currently sits at 39 points.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC go into tonight’s match following Wednesdays victory over San Antonio FC. Goals on Wednesday came from Toby Uzo, Marlon, Altamirano and Mompremier scoring the game winner, his first professional goal.

Tacoma Defiance have a 5-19-5 overall record and a 5-7-2 home record. Leading the Defiance is Justin Dhillon scoring 10 goals in 21 appearances. Nicholas Hinds and Shandon Hopeau both have three assists on the season so far.

TULSA, OK– The Tulsa Roughnecks played host to San Antonio FC in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Wednesday, September 25th at ONEOK Field.

The match started off with a bang as Toby Uzo smashed a header into the top of the net on the end of a Cristhian Altamirano cross and in the second minute of the match. Things continued from there as, in the sixth minute, Rodrigo Da Costa put Marlon dos Santos through behind the backline of San Antonio FC to pass the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net, doubling the lead. In the 12th minute, Rafael Castillo tucked a shot into the bottom right corner cutting the deficit to one. Castillo struck again in the 25th minute off a set piece just outside the box to level the score at two apiece. In the 30th minute, Walter Restrepo of San Antonio FC cut through the Roughnecks defense and scored near post from the byline. Just before the halftime whistle, Cristhian Altamirano was fouled inside the San Antonio FC box. He then took smashed the penalty into the top corner, ending the half even at 3-3.

The second half saw each side settled into the game and focused on not giving up more goals. San Antonio saw the second half with the majority of possession, but the Roughnecks had flashes of chances. Toby Uzo had multiple chances from outside the box, but Cardone was never put under too much pressure until the 80th minute. Manny Gonzalez struck a shot from 25 yards out across his body that troubled Cardone after a deflection off a defender. Also in the 80th minute, the referee saw that the match needed to be delayed due to lightning was within striking range of the stadium. After a 30-minute lightning delay, the game picked right back up where it left off. In the 87th minute, Fredlin Mompremier was on the receiving end of a Rodrigo Da Costa assist as he took one touch inside the box and finished it far post, giving the Roughnecks the lead. The match ended shortly after with the Tulsa Roughnecks on top 4-3.

The Tulsa Roughnecks travel to Tacoma this for a match on September 28th, but are back at home next Saturday, October 5th to take on Sacramento Republic FC at ONEOK Field.

This USL Championship match will be the second time the two sides meet this season. The first match at Toyota Stadium (San Antonio, TX) finished 1-1 with San Antonio FC goalkeeper Matt Cardone being credited for Tulsa’s goal. A Da Costa freekick that hit the post and came back off the San Antonio goalkeeper.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC enter the match with a 6-13-10 record sitting 16th in the USL Championship Western Conference. San Antonio FC sit one place below the final playoff spot in 11th with 38 points.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC go into tonight’s match following a 1-0 defeat to 4th place Orange County, holding the playoff team to a scoreless game up until the final minute of the match. Tulsa Roughnecks FC are not eliminated from the playoff race yet, with making 10th place still mathematically possible.

San Antonio FC have a 10-11-8 overall record. San Antonio FC have Frank Lopez who has found the net 13 times in 25 appearances, a player who creates many chances for San Antonio FC taking 62 shots this season. Tulsa Roughnecks back line will need to account for Lopez’s creativity tomorrow evening.

TULSA, OK– Tulsa Roughnecks FC  took on  Orange County SC  for the second time this season. The earlier game in the season Roughnecks won in a 8 goal thriller.

The match started with each side evenly owning possession, with both teams working hard off the ball. In the 15th minute, Darwin Jones of Orange County got behind the Roughnecks back line, but had trouble controlling the ball with an oncoming Sean Lewis. In minute 31, the Roughnecks picked up a free kick in their opponent’s half, Rodrigo Da Costa clipped the ball in, but the Toby Uzo header went just over the crossbar. The half ended with a late Orange County SC chance, but the half ended scoreless.

 

The second half began with each side still feeling out the match, but in the 61st minute, Orange County SC found their way behind the Roughnecks backline on a counter. Sean Lewis came up big with a huge save at the near post that was parried out for a corner. As the match entered stoppage time, the Roughnecks were pressing for the game winning goal, but as they had two late opportunities, they came up short. Orange County SC found Michael Orozco on a breakaway behind the Roughnecks backline facing goalkeeper  Sean Lewis. Orozco then slotted the ball across the box to an open Kevin Coleman who passed it into an open net. That goal was the last kick of the game.

The Tulsa Roughnecks are back at home next Wednesday, September 25th to take on San Antonio FC at ONEOK Field.

This USL Championship match will be the second time the two sides meet this season. The first match at Championship Soccer Stadium (Orange County, CA) was an 8-goal thriller finishing 5-3 to Tulsa. Goals that night were scored by Altamirano, Silva, Bastidas, with Lobo scoring twice.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC enter the match with a 6-13-9 record sitting 16th in the USL Championship Western Conference. Orange County are currently in sixth place with 42 points compared to Tulsa’s 27 points.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC go into tonight’s match following a 1-0 win on the road vs Rio Grande Valley Toros.  The game’s only goal was scored by Tulsa new signing Marlon. The Brazilians quick to start in the USL Championship has seen him score 3 goals in 4 games as a Tulsa Roughnecks player.

In the second leg of the Tulsa Roughnecks FC trip to South Texas the team travelled to Edinburg to take on Rio Grande Valley Toros in the USL Western Conference Championship play. An opening and exciting first half saw chances for both sides. Sean Lewis made three big saves for Tulsa keeping the Toros from scoring. At the other end, Tulsa Roughnecks forward Toby Uzo was inches away from scoring the only goal of the half, missing just wide from an Altamirano cross. The game finished scoreless at half.

The second half lived up to the same excitement as the first, with both teams creating chances in another end to end battle. Tulsa Roughnecks were the first team on the scoresheet, and it was the Brazilian, Marlon, who found the back of the net finishing a low driving shot assisted by fellow Brazilian, Rodrigo Da Costa. Making this, three goals in three games for Marlon. As the Roughnecks searched for their second goal of the night, RGV Toros contested the Roughnecks only to be stopped by goalkeeper Sean Lewis, who made numerous critical saves. After 7 minutes of stoppage time, the game finished 1-0 to the Tulsa Roughnecks.
