The Tulsa Roughnecks FC will face the OKC Energy for the third and final regular season meeting of 2017 on Sunday afternoon in Oklahoma City.  The Roughnecks have won the first two meeting this year between the in-state rivals by identical 2-1 scores.  Kickoff on Sunday is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Oklahoma City’s Taft Stadium.

For TRFC fans unable to make the trip to OKC, the match will be shown live on YouTube through the USL Match Center.

The Roughnecks enter Sunday’s match with 40 points on the season from a 12-10-4 record and come into the weekend occupying fifth place in the USL’s Western Conference standings.  

The Energy come in with 34 points from a 9-10-7 record and are currently just outside the eight playoff spots in ninth position.

TRFC has lost only two times since July 1, compiling a 7-2-4 record during that time.

Historically in the regular season Black Gold Derby series, the Roughnecks have a 3-5-2 record against the Energy.  The two teams split the 2015 series, the Roughnecks first season of play, with 1-1-2 record.  OKC swept all four games last year.

Tulsa has already established franchise highs this season with the most wins (12) and points (40) in the team’s three-year history.  

The Energy are difficult opponent at Taft Stadium, going 7-2-3 in home matches this season and collecting 24 of their 34 points at home.

COMING HOME
Sunday’s game will mark the next-to-last regular season away match for the Roughnecks this season.  TRFC will conclude the regular season with four of the final five matches at ONEOK Field.  The ending stretch will begin with a home game against LA Galaxy II next Saturday, September 23, at ONEOK Field.  Each of the four final home games will kick off at 7:00 p.m. CDT.

SVANTESSON CLOSING IN ON RECORD
Ian Svantesson’s 11 goals this season ties him with Sammy Ochoa for the franchise record for most goals in a season.  Ochoa scored 11 goals last season for the Roughnecks.

SEASON TICKET RENEWALS FOR 2018
Season ticket holders may now renew their tickets for the 2018 season.  Fans renewing their tickets by Friday, October 13 will receive a special Roughnecks Tote Bag.  Renewal letters were sent earlier this week.

Domingo de fútbol en la capital del estado en la tercera oportunidad en la que los Roughnecks se medirán a los OKC Energy. Será el último choque entre ambos con la seguridad para los de Vaudreuil de haber vencido en las dos anteriores oportunidades del curso. En ambos partidos los de Tulsa han logrado vencer por idéntico resultado, 2-1. El duelo se disputará en el Oklahoma City’s Taft Stadium desde las 5:00PM del domingo.

Todos aquellos aficionados que no desplacen a Oklahoma City, bien por su cuenta o con el viaje organizado por los Roustabouts, tienen la oportunidad de seguir el partido en el canal de Youtube de USL Match Center o por twitter en las dos cuentas oficiales del club (inglés o español).

Los de Vaudreuil afrontan el enfrentamiento siendo quintos en la tabla gracias a los 40 puntos sumados hasta la fecha. Diez victorias y cuatro empates es el bagaje de un equipo que sigue asentado en puestos de playoff. Los del Energy, por su parte, tienen seis puntos menos que los Roughnecks ocupando la novena plaza gracias a sus nueve victorias y siete empates. A un solo puesto de las posiciones de la liguilla por el título. Tenemos que destacar el papel de los naranjas desde el pasado mes de julio. Siete victorias y cuatro empates han colocado a los de Vaudreuil en una posición envidiable habiendo acumulado solo dos derrotas en trece partidos.

De momento, el record de la franquicia en estos tres años de historia es evidente. Han logrado doce victorias y han sumado cuarenta puntos, algo que no había sido conseguido hasta la fecha.

Pero los rivales del domingo se muestran muy fuertes en su terreno de juego. 24 de los 34 puntos han sido logrados en su estadio con solamente tres partidos en los que han caído derrotados. El precedente de este curso es positivo con las dos victorias de los naranjas, pero en 2016 los del OK Energy fueron capaces de ganar en los cuatro partidos disputados.

VUELTA A CASA. Los Roughnecks volverán a jugar en su terreno la próxima semanas después de varios partidos como visitantes. Lo mejor es que cuatro de los cinco partidos que faltarán entonces los disputarán como locales en el ONEOK Field, comenzando el próximo sábado día  23 ante el segundo equipo de Los Angeles Galaxy. Este partido está señalado para ser jugado desde las 7:00PM.

SVANTESSON, A POR EL RECORD DE GOLES. Ian Svantesson logró la semana pasada el record de goles de la franquicia con 11 goles, la misma cifra que logró Ochoa el curso anterior. De volver a marcar el delantero naranja conseguiría hacer historia en los Roughnecks.

RENOVACION DE LOS ABONOS PARA 2018. Los abonos para los aficionados de los Roughnecks para la próxima temporada ya pueden ser renovados. Todos aquellos que lo hagan antes del 13 de octubre recibirán una bolsa del equipo. Las cartas ya fueron enviadas la semana pasada. 

Chicago Fire loanee Joey Calistri has been an integral part of the Tulsa Roughnecks this season and he proved his value again this past week. Thanks to his contributions in the Roughnecks 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 last Wednesday, Calistri was named to the USL Team of the Week.

It is the eleventh time this season that a Roughneck has been chosen for the league’s weekly squad as Calistri became the seventh representative from the club to be honored in 2017. Previous recipients this year include Juan Pablo Caffa (5x), Jorge Corrales, Mo Jadama, Ian Svantesson, Joaquin Rivas, and Francisco Ugarte.

Calistri earned the honor after making an immediate impact in Tulsa’s 3-1 win over Vancouver on the road last week. After entering the game as a substitute in the 55th minute, Calistri quickly helped give the Roughnecks a 2-1 lead with a cross to Svantesson that was promptly placed into the back of the net. Sixty seconds later, Calistri took care of business once again as he beat his defender before cutting back at the top of the box and curving a right-footed shot into the far corner of the net to push the score to its final 3-1 tally.

The goal was Calistri’s eighth of the season, tying him with Caffa for the second-most on the team. More importantly however, the win gave Tulsa 3 points on the road, putting the club at 40 points on the season and setting a new franchise record. The Roughnecks currently sit in fifth place in the USL’s Western Conference with six matches to go in the regular season.

GK – Sean Melvin, Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2: Melvin recorded a seven-save shutout as WFC2 earned a draw on the road against OKC Energy FC on Sunday night.

D – Victor Vasquez, Phoenix Rising FC: Vasquez recorded five tackles and four interceptions over Rising FC’s two outings over the week as the side earned a win and a draw.

D – Lamar Batista, Portland Timbers 2: Batista recorded three interceptions and five clearances as T2 earned a shutout against Real Monarchs SLC on Saturday night.

D – Brent Richards, Reno 1868 FC: Richards recorded the opening goal in Reno’s 2-1 victory against the LA Galaxy II on Wednesday and finished with five tackles and seven interceptions over two games.

M – Pedro Ribeiro, Harrisburg City Islanders: Ribeiro notched the game-winning goal against Saint Louis FC and also notched an assist earlier in the week against the Tampa Bay Rowdies for the City Islanders.

M – Joey Calistri, Tulsa Roughnecks FC: Calistri had the game-winning goal and an assist as the Roughnecks earned a 3-1 victory against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 to finish their trip to Cascadia with seven points.

M – Speedy Williams, Louisville City FC: Williams scored his first goal of the season from the penalty spot to cap an outstanding midfield performance that saw him complete 81 of 95 passes and win all eight of his regular and aerial duels.

M – Sunny Jane, Richmond Kickers: Jane scored one goal and set up the other with a well-delivered free kick as the Kickers ended Orlando City B’s 12-game undefeated streak on Thursday night.

F – Stefano Bonomo, New York Red Bulls II: Bonomo converted twice from the penalty spot to lead the Red Bulls II to a 2-1 victory against Toronto FC II on Saturday night

F – Irvin Parra, Orange County SC: Parra’s first goal for Orange County lifted the side to a crucial 2-1 victory against the Swope Park Rangers that pushed OCSC back into the playoff picture.

F – Georgi Hristov, Tampa Bay Rowdies: Hristov scored a pair of goals as the Rowdies rallied to defeat the Harrisburg City Islanders 3-2 on Wednesday night at FNB Field.

El partido del miércoles ante el segundo equipo de los Vancouver Whitecaps servirá para que los Roughnecks despidan su gira por el Pacífico Norte tras tres partidos en los que, hasta el momento, suman una victoria y un empate, pendientes del partido ante los canadienses. El choque está fijado para que se dispute a las 9:00 PM en el McLeod Athletic Park.

Los locales buscarán resarcirse la victoria que sufrieron en el ONEOK Field el día 11 de mayo, cuando los de Vaudreuil lograron vencer 3-1 en un partido de claro color naranja. El último partido que disputaron en Vancouver fueron los de casa los que vencieron por un apurado 3-2. Hay que destacar los últimos resultados del equipo de Tulsa en esta gira con cuatro puntos tras la victoria ante los Seattle Sounders 2 y el empate del pasado domingo ante el cuadro de los Timbers 2. Destacan las dos únicas derrotas que han sufrido los Roughnecks desde el pasado mes de julio; seis victorias y cuatro empates  dejan a los de Vaudreuil con 22 puntos conseguidos sobre 36 posibles en estos dos meses de competición.

Otro aspecto a considerar para los de Tulsa son sus números durante esta temporada a domicilio con un record de puntos de la franquicia. De momento suman tres victorias y cuatro empates por solamente seis derrotas, lo que hacen 13 puntos de los 37 que suman en la tabla. Quince más en total que sus rivales canadienses que solamente tienen 22 de cinco victorias y 7 empates, el resto, 13, son derrotas.

Por otra parte la hinchada de los Roustabouts se reunirán en el Whiskey Dog de Broken Arrow (localizado en el 2408 W New Orleans Street) para seguir el partido siempre que se sea mayor de 21 años.

CÉSPED ARTIFICIAL: El equipo rival de los Roughnecks juega sus partidos sobre césped artificial, una superficie en la que los de Vaudrieul suman dos victorias, una derrota y un empate en lo que va de competición.

POSIBLES SANCIONES: El cubano Corrales, tras haber estado cinco partidos sin recibir tarjeta, está a dos cartulinas amarillas de la sanción. Por su parte Collin, amonestado en Portland, puede ser sancionado de recibir una tarjeta más al sumar cuatro.
