TULSA – One of FC Tulsa’s most lethal attackers in club history is coming back to Tulsa in 2022 and beyond. Forward Darío Suárez has signed a new multi-year contract with the club to ensure that the Cuban, whose 18 goals over the last two seasons are the most for any player in the FC Tulsa-era of the club, will remain in gold.

Suárez has been one of the league’s best goalscorers since joining the USL Championship with FC Tulsa prior to the 2020 season. He is one of just seven players in the league to score at least eight regular season goals in each of the last two years. His 18 total goals are the fourth-most in FC Tulsa history, trailing co-leaders Rodrigo da Costa and Joaquín Rivas, who have each played three seasons in Tulsa, by six goals.
“I'm going to help this team with all of my effort to win the title that Tulsa deserves,” said Suárez.
A former Cuban national team player, Suárez defected to the United States during the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He has slowly worked his way up the soccer pyramid, starting his career in the U.S. with AFC Ann Arbor, now a USL League Two team. From there he went to the NPSL/NISA with Miami FC before his arrival in the USL Championship with FC Tulsa.
Following his eight goals in 15 matches played over the 2020 season, Suárez was named FC Tulsa’s Offensive Player of the Year, while a 10-goal, 4-assist season in 2021 earned him the Fan-Voted MVP award for Tulsa.
He is the fourth player announced to return to the 2022 squad, joining keeper Sean Lewis, defender Jorge Corrales and midfielder Eric Bird.
