Kickoff from ONEOK Field is Set for 8 p.m. CT
TULSA – On Friday night, FC Tulsa is back at ONEOK Field where it has won four consecutive matches dating back to June 30. The defending Eastern Conference champions, Louisville City FC, represent Tulsa’s opposition and will seek revenge for Phillip Goodrum’s 89’ minute match-winner the last time these two sides clashed in May.
FC Tulsa suffered its first loss since June 21 last weekend in Tampa Bay, but the club is still riding high with five wins over its last six matches. Blair Gavin’s crew currently occupies the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference standings, but FC Tulsa needs only four points to commandeer the fourth home playoff spot in a crowded table.
Who currently occupies the fourth spot? Fittingly, Louisville City FC.
Should the dominoes fall favorably for Tulsa in the other two USL Championship matches taking place on Friday night, FC Tulsa could finish the evening just one point out of a top-four spot.
The left-back position saw some heavy rotation this past week with the announcement of Adam Armour’s season-ending ACL injury, followed by the acquisition of Patrick Seagrist from Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. The newest addition to FC Tulsa’s roster could potentially make his Tulsa debut vs. LouCity.
In 21 matches for Switchbacks FC this season, Seagrist logged three assists and created 16 scoring chances.
The last meeting between the two sides resulted in a win of paramount importance for FC Tulsa after trailing Louisville City late, 1-0. A blistering strike from Eric Bird in the 77’ minute followed by an 89’ minute header from Phillip Goodrum in his club debut stunned the crowd packed inside Lynn Family Stadium.
Kickoff from ONEOK is set for 8 p.m. CT, presented by Tulsa Bone & Joint.
SCOUTING LOUISVILLE CITY FC
Louisville City FC currently sits 4th in the Eastern Conference through 21 matches of a season that has failed to live up to the Boys in Purple’s typical lofty standard. Louisville’s record stands at 9W-7L-5D, marking only the fourth season in club history in which LouCity has lost at least seven matches in franchise history – the most it has ever lost in a single season is eight back in 2019.
Last week, Louisville acquired defender Kyle Adams from San Diego Loyal SC while loaning Enoch Mushagalusa to the California club. After a strong 90 minutes in his debut, Adams won 100% of his ground duels, 55% of those in the air, and completed 81% of his passes. To add to LouCity’s defensive success, goalkeeper Oliver Semmle has posted a 71.4% save percentage on the year and holds the top spot in the USL Championship with 10 clean sheets.
STAT OF THE MATCH
Goalkeeper Michael Nelson currently ranks second in the USL Championship with 65 saves on the season, trailing only Oakland Roots SC’s Paul Blanchette.
