TULSA – Last Friday, FC Tulsa front office staff, along with members of the supporters group 83 United and community partners Tulsa Rugby Club and 36 Degrees North, volunteered at the Tulsa Dream Center for its Back to School Bash and Grocery Giveaway.
The Tulsa Dream Center hosts a Grocery Giveaway three times a week, and to date the Center has provided over four million meals to the North Tulsa and greater Tulsa communities.
“We’re grateful,” said Aaron Johnson, the Executive Director of the Tulsa Dream Center. “It’s week 21 [of the event], we sponsored with FC Tulsa, and we’re grateful. It means so much for [the club] to come out and partner with us. We served over 600 cars, and adding up all the meals, we served over 4,000 meals. We changed lives with backpacks with school supplies, shoes, and more. We’re excited for the partnership with FC Tulsa.”
FC Tulsa’s continued engagement with the Tulsa community has been a staple of the club’s new identity this year. This first event with the Dream Center is another nonprofit partner that FC Tulsa is proud to support and collaborate with.
“I’m really excited about the direction of FC Tulsa, and the growing partnership that we’re building within the sporting community,” said Luke Turner, of the Tulsa Rugby Club. In the last month we’ve done this grocery giveaway, a blood drive, just continuing to find ways to give back to the Tulsa community during this unprecedented time.”
