TULSA – FC Tulsa and the United States Men’s National Team fell to OKC Energy FC and the much-overpowered Portugal 3-0 on Monday evening. With forward Panin Boakye on the sticks, FC Tulsa battled valiantly but the team with Cristiano Ronaldo often comes out on top, and such was the case with the Portuguese stud netting two goals in the win.

Boakye started off on the front foot, snuffing out OKC Energy FC attacks and controlling possession throughout the opening 10 minutes, but Ronaldo, through a moment of individual brilliance, took a pass at the top of the box and slotted one past the keeper to take a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute.

Tulsa and the USMNT battled back, creating chances, but in the 40th minute Bruma slipped past an offsides trap to go through on goal and double the hosts’ lead going into the break. Coming out of halftime, it was back and forth battle as the underdogs USMNT tried to get back into it.

After committing to the attack, Ronaldo capitalized with a curler from the top of the 18 to make it 3-0, where the score would remain.

The loss knocks FC Tulsa out of the qualifying tournament, but not the competition. The USL eCup: FIFA 20 Edition’s format means that FC Tulsa will enter the weekly divisional competition in Division C and will compete to win the league and be promoted up the divisions to earn points.
