TULSA, Oklahoma (Saturday, August 3rd, 2019) – Tulsa Roughnecks FC are traveling down the turnpike Saturday, August 3rd, to take on OKC Energy FC in USL Championship Western Conference play. Kickoff from Taft Stadium is set for 8:00 P.M. CDT (Saturday, August 3rd, 2019) and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Saturday’s USL Championship match will be the second time the two rivals meet this season. The first matchup this season ended in a 1-1 draw. The winner of the match will be the champion of this year’s Black Gold Derby and will claim the coveted Wrench.
Tulsa Roughnecks enter the match in 17th place and only 10 points from playoff position. OKC Energy FC sit in 7th place and are only one point above the playoff cusp.
Tulsa Roughnecks come into the match after a hard fought battle with Phoenix Rising FC last weekend. The Roughnecks fell 1-0, after being down to 10 men and without their head coach the entire second half. Rodrigo Da Costa looks to add to his top-shelf attacking season with his seven assists and seven goals. Da Costa sits tied for second in the league in assists.
OKC Energy FC enter the match having won only one of their last four matches, last week versus Tacoma Defiance. Deshorn Brown leads the side with nine goals on the year. Omar Gordon has provided an assist on six goals this year, the most on Energy FC. Gordon tallied the only Energy FC goal when the two sides met earlier this season.
