AUSTIN, TX– Tulsa Roughnecks FC traveled to Austin to take on Austin Bold FC in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup. The first half would see Austin Bold get on the board first with Sonny Guadarrama scoring in the 34th minute. The Tulsa Roughnecks FC came close to tying the game before the half with good chances from Akeil Barrett and Toby Uzo .
Tulsa Roughnecks FC started the second half strong with Fredlin Mompremier causing the Austin Bold back line a lot of trouble. After a creative play from Akeil Barrett, Toby Uzo had the chance to tie the game only to be blocked by a last-ditch effort from the Austin Bold defense. Andre Lima found the back of the net in the 74th minute to make it 2-0 to Austin Bold FC. With the result finishing at 2-0, the Tulsa Roughnecks FC bow out of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with Austin Bold advancing to the next round.
The Tulsa Roughnecks return to the USL Championship league facing San Antonio FC Saturday, May 18th in Texas.
