
RENO, NV– This weekend the Tulsa Roughnecks FC traveled to Nevada to take on the Reno 1868 FC. The first half would see the hosts get on the board first with a right-footed shot from the center of the box by Reno’s, Corey Hertzog that was assisted by Brian Brown. However, the Roughnecks were quick to level the score when Janu Silva secured the ball in the lower 90 with an assist from Moses Makinde. Things were looking up as the 45th minute approached, but when play continued through stoppage time, we saw Corey Hertzog score a brace to finish out the half. The first half would finish with the Roughnecks trailing 2-1.
Not long after the second half began Tulsa leveled the score in the 60th minute with a left-footed shot from Rodrigo Da Costa from inside the 18-yard box. The game would finish level at 2 with both teams taking home a point apiece. With the Roughnecks securing a draw, it ties them for 1st place in the USL Championship’s Western Conference Standings with the Portland Timbers 2.
The Tulsa Roughnecks will be back in action next Tuesday, May 14th in Austin, Texas when they take on Austin Bold FC for their second-round match-up of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
