CARSON, CA– The Tulsa Roughnecks traveled to Southern California this weekend to take on the Los Angeles Galaxy II. The Roughnecks knew Los Dos was going to be their toughest test yet as they have never won in Carson. The first half saw the hosts get on the board first with a right-footed penalty kick taken by Ethan Zubak early on in the 13th minute. Roughneck, Cristhian Altamirano looked to equalize after a foul was drawn on Fabian Bastidas in the box but the shot cleared the crossbar. The first half would finish with the Roughnecks trailing 1-0.
The second half did not lack excitement as Los Dos found the back of the net twice with a brace from Kai Koreniuk in the first four minutes of the whistle. Not long after the Roughnecks got on the board with a header from Luca Lobo assisted by Rodrigo Da Costa with a cross following a set piece situation. However, the Roughnecks didn’t have long to celebrate as LA Galaxy II’s Ethan Zubak put another one away just outside the box. It was back and forth in terms of goals in the second half, as we saw league leader, Luca Lobo head it to the back of the net again with an assist from Rodrigo Da Costa.
Tulsa has confidence standing over a dead ball, as set pieces have been a game-changer for the Roughnecks this season. It was a tough result to fall 2-4 to LA Galaxy II, we saw Los Dos bend but not break.
The Tulsa Roughnecks will be back in action next Saturday, April 13th when they travel to back to California to take on the Fresno FC.
