TULSA, Oklahoma (Thursday, April 4, 2019) – The Tulsa Roughnecks FC are set to travel to Los Angeles, California for their match-up against the LA Galaxy II taking place this Saturday at Cheney Stadium. The Roughnecks go into Saturday leading the USL Championship’s Western Conference with league leader, Luca Lobo for goals scored.
Kickoff from the Golden Coast is set for 9PM CST and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
This will be the first of two meetings between both teams this season. Saturday’s match will be the ninth match all-time between the two sides, with the Roughnecks holding onto a 2-4-2 (8 points) record over the hosts. In the last meeting between the two clubs, Tulsa earned a 2-0 road win over LA at ONEOK Field on June 27, 2018. In the first meeting between the two teams last season, Galaxy II defeated the Roughnecks, 1-0, at the StubHub Tennis Center on June 2, 2018. The LA Galaxy II (2-2-0, 6 points) enters Saturday’s match following a 3-2 defeat over the Portland Timbers 2 on March 30th. The team currently ranks 7th in the USL Championship’s Western Conference standings.
The Galaxy II is coached by Mike Muñoz. Muñoz was named the second LA Galaxy II coach in history in January 2017. Muñoz takes over after spending time as a coach and the Director of the LA Galaxy Academy, which he helped develop into one of the most successful in Major League Soccer, with 14 Academy products signed across LA Galaxy and LA Galaxy II before he was named head coach.
The Roughnecks will have their eyes on Galaxy II forward, Augustine Williams. Williams has already made an impact for the LA Galaxy II attack after signing with the team in January 2019. Having only made three appearances, Williams has scored two goals.
