TULSA, OK. –Tulsa Roughnecks won 4-1 against the Rogers State University men’s soccer team in a preseason friendly played in Claremore, Oklahoma on Tuesday evening. The game would finish to see the Roughnecks improve to a 4-1-0 record in their 2019 preseason campaign.
The Tulsa Roughnecks opened the scoring early on in the 18th minute with a goal from Cristhian Altamirano. Just before the half-time whistle, the Roughnecks would double their advantage in the 44th minute with a goal from Luca Lobo. The second half did not lack excitement as the 70th minute approached, Mallan Roberts received a yellow card from the officiating referee. As the game drew closer to the end, we saw Janu Silva secure the lead with a goal in the 83rd minute. RSU responded shortly after with their only goal of the game in the 89th minute, which the Roughnecks countered with a goal in the 90th minute to make it 4-1 before the final whistle was blown.
“Glad to get another game under our belt. Each game has given us something to take away and analyze to improve upon I felt we needed to have a game where we were able to gain confidence as to where our goals would come from. We saw lots of potential from that perspective,” said Michael Nsien (Head Coach, Tulsa Roughnecks), “We want to be a dynamic and constant threat in the attacking third and be hungry to take our chances. We look to continue this progress as preseason comes to a close. We were able to rest some players and load others, hopefully, we will be close to fully fit and healthy by next week.”
The Roughnecks will be back in action for their final preseason match this Friday, the 1st at the University of Tulsa where they will play the Golden Hurricane Men’s Team. Entry is free for this preseason game and kicks off at 7:00PM CT.
