The Tulsa Roughnecks FC announced the signing today of local product D.J. Dean. Dean signed his first professional contract this week and is eligible to play in Saturday’s match with Saint Louis FC.
The 19-year-old is a native of Tulsa and grew up playing in the area’s youth system. He also played high school soccer at Tulsa’s Union High School.
He has always been one of the top young prospects in the Tulsa area and played for TRFC Assistant Coach Michael Nsien as a young teenager.
“D.J. is a very talented, young player out of Union High School that we have known about,” said TRFC Head Coach David Vaudreuil. “We are always looking for dynamic players, especially if they are local. D.J. showed a lot of ability when he has trained with us, and featured very well in our match with the Chicago Fire this spring, getting behind players and excelling in one-on-one situations. We hope to continue his development, and we see him helping us in the near future.”
Dean will be used in a forward spot, but he can also play in a midfield role.
