Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa Roughnecks F.C. and Head Coach David Vaudreuil revealed a key signing today as it was announced that midfielder Joaquin Rivas had agreed to terms on a contract for the 2018 season, pending league and federation approval. Rivas will return for his second year with the Roughnecks.
The 25-year-old was the only TRFC player to appear in all 32 regular season matches last season, starting in 27. Rivas was third on the team with five goals while adding two assists.
“Joaquin was one of the key contributors to our team’s success last season, and we are excited to have him back,” said Vaudreuil. “He is a talented and dependable player that we think can push forward and score even more goals this year.”
Before joining the Roughnecks prior to last season, Rivas spent two years with the Sacramento Republic FC, making 19 appearances.
Prior to turning professional, Rivas played four years for the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV). After college, he starred for Kitsap Pumas in Bremerton, Washington, scoring 6 goals in 13 appearances for the PDL side.
Rivas is the third player signing announced this week by the Roughnecks.
