It is the second edition of the 2016 Black Gold Derby as Tulsa Roughnecks F.C. (TRFC) travels down the Turner Turnpike to take on cross-state rivals the Oklahoma City Energy at Taft Stadium. It is the second of four meetings this season between the two clubs in what supporters have dubbed the Black Gold Derby.
THE TWO TEAMS
TRFC will enter the match with 15 points and a 4-11-3 record through its 18 matches this season. The Energy will come in with 28 points and a 7-2-7 mark through 16 matches. The two losses for OKC are tied for third-fewest in USL this season.
FIRST MEETING
The Energy claimed a 2-0 victory in the season’s first meeting on June 4 at Tulsa’s ONEOK Field. The Energy got first-half goals from Wojciech Wojcik and Daniel Gonzalez to claim the victory.

TRFC captain Sammy Ochoa picked up his ninth goal of the 2016 campaign in the win over Saint Louis. The nine goals ties Ochoa with Irving Herrera of STLFC for the fourth most in the league this year. Ochoa’s five assists also lead the Roughnecks and tie him for third most in USL.
NEWCOMER SCHAFER HONORED
One of the newest Roughnecks, center back Isaiah Schafer was honored with a spot on this week’s USL Team of the Week, following his performance in Friday’s 2-0 shutout win over Saint Louis. Schafer signed with Tulsa on July 7 after receiving his release from the Pittsburgh RiverHounds earlier this season.
MANGELS SAVES
TRFC’s Alex Mangels continues to lead all USL goalkeepers with 70 saves this season. His .833 save percentage is also the best in the league.
SEEING NAVY
The Roughnecks will play in their away, all navy kits for Saturday’s match. Oklahoma City will be in its green and white kits.
