MATCH RECAP: FC Tulsa Continue Defensive Prowess Against Rhode Island FC

TULSA, Okla. (August 29, 2026) — An early goal from Jeorgio Kocevski in the eighth minute was the difference as FC Tulsa took down Rhode Island FC 1-0 on Saturday night at ONEOK Field.

The Scissortails came flying out the gate with some exquisite passing sequences including one in the eighth minute which saw Remi Cabral flick a ball onto Kocevski who slotted it home to give Tulsa an early lead. The visitors had the higher share of possession in the period and more shots but were unable to break through in the opening 45 minutes.

Rhode Island continued to look for answers in the second half, but Dane Jacomen was up for the task with six saves on the night. The Tulsa back line did the rest of the work to see out the 1-0 victory and secure their tenth win of the regular season.

Jeorgio Kocevski’s goal was his second of the season with Cabral’s assist being his first.
Dane Jacomen recorded his fifth shutout of the regular season, giving him the club lead for 2026. It was also his sixth across all competitions, the fourth most by a Tulsa keeper in a season.

That’s the game, and they’re a good opponent. I still think there’s another level we can get to, so we’re going to stick to our process, review the film and prepare for the next game.”

Midfielder Jeorgio Kocevski: “I try to get on the score sheet as much as possible, and I feel like it’s been a while, so a little bit of relief. I can’t thank the guys around me enough. It was a great combination and great awareness from everyone, and it worked out. All that comes from lots of training on the training ground, working together and getting those one and two touch flicks around the corner down. The chemistry between the guys in the front half is starting to click, and we’re seeing the benefits of it.”

Goalkeeper Dane Jacomen: “It was a hard fought match. We pride ourselves on making this a difficult place for teams to come and play, and I feel like we achieved that tonight with the intensity and togetherness that we played with. Things we’ve been working on in training came out in the match tonight. I think we grew as the match went on and ultimately did enough for the win, but as always, we just grow from here.”
