MATCH RECAP: FC Tulsa Fall to Detroit City FC

TULSA, Okla. (August 8, 2026) — FC Tulsa dropped points to Detroit City FC 1-0 at ONEOK Field on Saturday night in a matchup of three seeds in the USL Championship.

The first half was one of the rare occasions where the Scissortails outpossessed their opponent with 57 percent of the ball. Tulsa created its fair share of attacking threats but could not find the back of the net with neither side tested the keepers with a shot on target.

The visitors woke up out of the locker room with an unfortunate deflection setting up a go-ahead strike for Detroit. Tulsa pushed time after time for an equalizer but could not find the final pass as the club’s four-match shutout streak came to an end.

“The biggest thing we have to do is be able to get those relationships right and punish teams when we have the opportunity,” midfielder Giordano Colli said. “We need to put teams away when we can when we have a lot of momentum. That starts on the training pitch. We just need to keep working hard to create those relationships.”

The Scissortails’ club-record shutout streak of 441 minutes was snapped tonight along with its streak of four clean sheets for goalkeeper Dane Jacomen. Forward Remi Cabral returned to action for the first time since June 20 as a second half substitute but could not steer a shot on net.

“Tonight was a tough result,” Jacomen said. “I think the effort was there from the guys. There’s a lot to learn from the match. It’s the same as usual – whether it’s a win or loss, we just stick to our process and move on from there.”

The Black and Gold head west for a crucial two-match road trip with a pair of top four clubs in the Western Conference waiting for them. They face off with New Mexico United on August 15 and Orange County SC on August 22.

“I think it’s about staying true to our process,” head coach Luke Spencer said. “No game is easy in this league, and we know the opponent that New Mexico is, so it’s about preparing the best we can this week.”
