A sweet finish from midfielder Jamie Webber in the 66th minute helped FC Tulsa take down Sacramento Republic FC 1-0 on Wednesday night at ONEOK Field. The Scissortails extended their regular season shutout streak to 390 minutes, the longest in club history.
Goalkeeper Dane Jacomen was called into early action for the Scissortails with three saves in the opening ten minutes. From there, Tulsa created the majority of the chances in the first half with forward Arquímides Ordóñez serving as a spark plug in the attack. Multiple offsides calls, however, derailed their efforts for the most part as the match remained scoreless at the break.
Out of the locker room, the visitors seemed eager to tip the scale in their favor with a flurry of chances after a pair of halftime substitutions. The Tulsa back line turned them away though and continued their recent defensive prowess.
The Tulsa breakthrough came in the 66th minute with forward Stefan Lukic taking advantage of some space outside the box and lobbing a precision pass into Webber who promptly found the back of the net for his third goal of the season to place the Scissortails in front. Despite some late threats from Sacramento, the hosts held onto three points and rose up to third place in the Western Conference.
This was the first match since the start of May where head coach Luke Spencer was able to keep the same eleven from the previous match. As the squad has recovered from injury with more help on the way, they have grown in confidence on the field. Since defenders Abdoulaye Cissoko and Ian Carlo Souza Daniel have returned to the back line alongside Lamar Batista, the Scissortails have not conceded a goal in their last four matches.
KEY STORYLINES
Tulsa’s defense is on a historic run with its longest regular season shutout streak in club history (390 minutes). It helps that Dane Jacomen has been a brick wall between the sticks (eight saves in that span) as the Scissortails appear to have rediscovered its formula to success from 2025.
FC Tulsa has been dealing with a revolving door of injuries in 2026 but still sit at third place in the Western Conference. Goalkeeper Alex Tambakis and defender Harvey St Clair are expected back soon with midfielders Marcos Cerato and Boubacar Diallo hopeful to make it back during the final stretch of the season.
Midseason additions have added some promise in the attack as of late with Logan Dorsey cashing in again on the road last Wednesday and Arquímides “Quimi” Ordóñez doing work on both sides of the field in his first start for the Scissortails. The emergence of the Tulsa offense will be highly anticipated in the final three months of the regular season as head coach Luke Spencer’s side looks to position itself for another postseason run.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Defender Joel Sangwa: As the 27-year-old defender nears the end of his 25-day contract, he has certainly made a strong case for his time with Tulsa to be extended. In the right wingback role, which is a new challenge for him, Sangwa has shown great on-ball defensive prowess while also contributing in the Scissortail attack with some enticing crosses and runs.
Midfielder Jamie Webber: One of the league’s premier playmakers was at it again on Wednesday with his third goal of the regular season. The South African midfielder completed 32 of 34 passes while also winning eight duels to go with six recoveries. Eight of Tulsa’s last 12 goals dating back to the middle of May have come from or because of Webber, who has served as the spark plug for the Scissortail attack in 2026.
Forward Logan Dorsey: As the Minnesota United FC loanee has gelled with this FC Tulsa attacking core, he has grown more confident and lively in his play. In five consecutive starts at striker for the Scissortails, Dorsey has found the back of the net twice while creating serious scoring chances for himself and others around him.
OPPONENT INFO: DETROIT CITY FC
This is the sixth meeting between Tulsa and Detroit with the Scissortails unbeaten against their Michigan counterparts. It has been almost two full years since the last meeting between these clubs with Tulsa winning 1-0 in Michigan. This match features the third seeds from both conferences in 2026.
Danny Dichio is in his third season at the helm and has his club in prime position to host playoff soccer in Michigan in three months. Darren Smith is the focal point of the Detroit attack with his 11 goals leading the league Golden Boot race. Kobe Hernández-Foster also factors in as he leads the side with four assists and 32 chances created. Defensively, Haruki Yamazaki leads the league in interceptions (27) and tackles (44) while Devon Amoo-Mensah ranks seventh with 96 clearances.
