In a rematch of last season’s USL Championship Final, the Scissortails threatened early with a spree of chances and hit paydirt in the 13th minute as Logan Dorsey connected from outside the box to put Tulsa in front. A few more shots just missed the target as Tulsa controlled the flow of the match going into the break.
The hosts made some more noise in the second half with 64 percent of the possession but struggled to create any serious attacking opportunities. The closest they came was on a stoppage time header that went just wide of the right post, but nothing got past goalkeeper Dane Jacomen who earned his third consecutive shutout.
Dorsey’s finish was his second for Tulsa in league play this season and third across all competitions while midfielder Jamie Webber’s assist was his fourth and seventh in those two categories, respectively. Forward Arquímides Ordóñez recorded his first career start in a Tulsa kit while defender Owen Damm made his return to the pitch in the second half in his first appearance since May 16 at Corpus Christi FC in the Prinx Tires USL Cup.
KEY STORYLINES
This match was rescheduled from July 4 after a weather delay postponed the affair. This is the second of three matches between these sides in the regular season with the third coming on October 3 at ONEOK Field.
Tulsa’s defense is on a historic run with its longest regular season shutout streak in club history (300 minutes). These last three matches have finally seen the combination of Lamar Batista, Abdoulaye Cissoko and Ian Carlo Souza Daniel all healthy, and they have responded while holding opponents to just four shots on goal in that span. It helps that Dane Jacomen has been a brick wall between the sticks as the Scissortails appear to have rediscovered its formula to success in 2025.
FC Tulsa has been dealing with a revolving door of injuries in 2026 but still sit at fourth place in the Western Conference. Goalkeeper Alex Tambakis and defender Harvey St Clair are expected back soon with midfielders Marcos Cerato and Boubacar Diallo hopeful to make it back during the final stretch of the season.
Midseason additions have added some promise in the attack as of late with Logan Dorsey cashing in again on the road last Wednesday and Arquímides “Quimi” Ordóñez doing work on both sides of the field in his first start for the Scissortails. The emergence of the Tulsa offense will be highly anticipated in the final three months of the regular season as head coach Luke Spencer’s side looks to position itself for another postseason run.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Defender Joel Sangwa: As the 27-year-old defender nears the end of his 25-day contract, he has certainly made a strong case for his time with Tulsa to be extended. In the right wingback role, which is a new challenge for him, Sangwa has shown great on-ball defensive prowess while also contributing in the Scissortail attack with some enticing crosses and runs.
Midfielder Jamie Webber: One of the league’s premier playmakers was at it again on Wednesday recording his seventh assist across all competitions in 2026 while also impressing defensively, winning 8 of 12 duels to go with a match-high five interceptions and six recoveries. Five of Tulsa’s last nine goals dating back to the start of June have come off feeds from Webber, who has served as the spark plug for the Scissortail attack in 2026.
Forward Logan Dorsey: As the Minnesota United FC loanee has gelled with this FC Tulsa attacking core, he has grown more confident and lively in his play. In four consecutive starts at striker for the Scissortails, Dorsey has found the back of the net twice while creating serious scoring chances for himself and others around him.
OPPONENT INFO: SACRAMENTO REPUBLIC FC
This is the 18th meeting between Tulsa and Sacramento with this Wednesday’s visitors holding a lead in the all-time series. Last season, the Scissortails recorded their first two victories against their California counterparts, both in 1-0 fashion. Taylor Calheira’s late goal was the difference back in March 2025 at ONEOK Field while Kalil ElMedkhar did the job in Sacramento later that June.
This match features the top two seeds in the Western Conference in 2025. These two sides faced off in the 2026 season opener with Sacramento getting the 2-0 win on the west coast back on March 7.
Neill Collins looks to outperform last season’s early playoff exit, and his side is rounding into form with the best defense by goals allowed per match in the league (0.94) and eight goals scored in their last two matches. Tyler Wolff (hat trick vs. JAX – 8/2) and Memo Rodríguez (three assists vs. JAX – 8/2) hope to continue stellar form in the attack while Lee Desmond and Freddy Kleemann anchor one of the league’s premier back lines.
