Arthur Rogers brings his Defender of the Year status to FC Tulsa
TULSA – Back-to-back USL League One Defender of the Year, Arthur Rogers, has signed with FC Tulsa for the 2024 USL Season.
Rogers, a London, England native, joins FC Tulsa after spending two seasons with Northern Colorado Hailstorm of the USL League One.
“I’m extremely excited to be joining FC Tulsa. I believe we have a very exciting project being built here, and we will give everything we can to bring success to this city,” Rogers said, “I can’t wait to meet the teammates, coaches, fans, get settled in the city of Tulsa and begin the hard work!”
During the 2023 season with the Hailstorm, Rogers ranked among the team leaders in all defensive statistics, including 55 clearances, 9 blocks, 28 interceptions, 43 tackles won, 179 duels won, and 35 aerial duels won.
Rogers also led the team in minutes played with 3,052, spanning 34 starts.
While being a top defender for the Hailstorm, Rogers also contributed offensively, netting 2 goals during the 2023 season and notching a pass accuracy of 79.9%.
Rogers capped off the 2023 season with his second Defender of the Year award. This achievement solidifies his place as the first player in USL League One history to win in back-to-back seasons. He was also named to the All-League First Team for the second straight season.
FC Tulsa’s head coach Blair Gavin expressed his enthusiasm about Rogers joining the team.
“Arthur is a great addition to the team with his qualities on the field along with his winning mindset,” Gavin said, “He will bring a new dynamic to the back line which will be very beneficial to our team.”
In the 2022 season with the Northern Colorado Hailstorm, Rogers recorded 2,665 minutes played with 30 starts and 30 games played.
During that year, Rogers ranked among the team leaders with 66 clearances and 29 interceptions and ranked second on the team with 32 tackles won and 143 duels won.
Ahead of the 2020 season, Rogers signed with the USL Championship Hartford Athletic where he spent two seasons playing before joining the Northern Colorado Hailstorm in 2022.
Rogers played one collegiate season at Kentucky Wesleyan College before transferring to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where he was named to the All-WAC Second Team as well as the United States Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Region Second Team. While in college, Rogers also appeared 14 times in USL League Two for Corpus Christi FC.
