TULSA – On Tuesday, FC Tulsa announced the addition of full-back Patrick Seagrist from Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC via transfer. The conditions of the transfer will remain undisclosed, per club policy.
Seagrist, the 10th overall selection in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft by New York Red Bulls, has accrued 85 USL Championship appearances over the last three seasons with seven goal contributions and a 74.6% pass accuracy mark.
“I’m very excited to meet the guys, the staff, and help contribute to a playoff team,” said Seagrist. “It is a great feeling to be somewhere where I am valued and able to contribute to the culture and style of play. My personal expectations are to contribute on the attacking side with more assists and a few goals, and I expect these guys to want to win a championship. The people we have are more than capable of doing so with the right mentality and togetherness.”
Seagrist appeared in each of Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC’s first 21 matches with 20 starts prior to joining FC Tulsa. A standout for the club, the 25-year-old registered three assists and created 16 scoring chances from his flanking position while posting a 57.9% dribble success rate. Defensively, Seagrist won 69% of his tackles and averaged 4.07 interceptions per 90 minutes.
The year prior, Seagrist made his name known with Memphis 901 FC, playing a critical role in Memphis establishing its best record in franchise history and securing the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference following a 21W-5L-8D season. Seagrist won 52.5% of his attempted tackles in a 901 FC jersey and made 75 interceptions in 33 regular season matches. The Illinois native also scored the first goal of his professional career with Memphis and came up with four assists, one of which benefited his once-again teammate Phillip Goodrum.
“It is great to be playing with one of my closest friends and teammates again,” said Seagrist when asked about playing alongside Goodrum in Tulsa. “We had a great season together last year, both individually and collectively, and we hold ourselves to the high standard of replicating that success once again here in Tulsa.”
Before his breakout campaigns with Colorado Springs and Memphis, the professional journey began for Seagrist following a four-year career at Marquette University where he was a two-time All-BIG EAST First Team award winner. Seagrist was selected 10th overall by New York Red Bulls in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft and would go on to appear for New York on three occasions. Seagrist was traded to Inter Miami FC ahead of the 2021 season, then was loaned to Indy Eleven where he appeared 29 times in Championship play.
“Patrick has a lot of qualities we look for in an FC Tulsa player,” said FC Tulsa head coach Blair Gavin. “He has a great engine to get up and down the field in order to impact the game on both sides of the ball. He also has a relentless drive to win which we look forward to bringing into the group.”
Seagrist will be made eligible for selection to Blair Gavin ahead of FC Tulsa’s clash with Louisville City FC on Friday evening.
