Fourth Team of the Week Award for Goodrum in 2023, First for Armour
TAMPA, Fla. – To cap off a week in which FC Tulsa won its fifth consecutive match to tie a franchise record, both Phillip Goodrum and Adam Armour were named to the USL Championship’s Week 20 Team of the Week on Tuesday for their contributions in Tulsa’s three-point effort over Rio Grande Valley FC Toros over the weekend.
For Goodrum, the honor marks his third Team of the Week appearance in the past four weeks and his fourth since joining FC Tulsa in late May. Goodrum secured FC Tulsa’s match-winning goal in the 31’ minute by way of his second Panenka penalty this season and his third from the spot overall. Goodrum now has seven goals for FC Tulsa in 10 matches.
Goodrum ripped four shots in total, all of which were on target, while winning 59% of his duels and creating one additional scoring chance. Furthermore, the striker won both of his attempted tackles.
The Team of the Week award for Armour is the first for the 20-year-old wing-back this season. Armour assisted Milo Yosef’s opening goal in the 7’ minute and nearly scored himself from 30 yards out, blasting his shot inches above the crossbar. Active on both sides of the ball, Armour made three interceptions, one clearance, and won possession for Tulsa on nine occasions.
In total, the two Team of the Week nods constitute the 10th and 11th such accolades for FC Tulsa in 2023.
FC Tulsa is back in action on Saturday once it travels 1,271 miles to St. Petersburg to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies at 6:30 p.m. CT. A Tulsa win would be its sixth victory on the bounce, setting a new franchise-long win streak.
