Goodrum Named Player of the Week Twice in Three Weeks
TAMPA, Fla. – With two combined goals and one assist last week in FC Tulsa’s back-to-back wins, Phillip Goodrum has been named the USL Championship’s Week 19 Player of the Week, presented by Konami eFootball, for the second time in three weeks. In addition, Marcus Epps has also earned a spot on the league’s Team of the Week with two goals to his credit as well.
Goodrum crowded the scoresheet once again in his club’s wins over Miami FC on Wednesday and Hartford Athletic on Saturday. The forward assisted Epps’ midweek winner and netted his second brace of the season vs. Hartford, a feat that included a 90+5’ minute match-winner that sent ONEOK Field into a frenzy.
His incredible heroics garnered Goodrum 55% of the Player of the Week balloting, as voted on by the USL National Media Panel.
After being acquired from Memphis 901 FC in late May, Goodrum has scored six goals and logged two assists for FC Tulsa in nine matches.
Epps played 146 minutes between both matches, opening the scoring in each. His 71’ minute goal vs. Miami proved to be the match winner, and his goal vs. Hartford gave FC Tulsa the early 1-0 advantage in the 13′ minute.
In addition, Epps completed 43/60 passes and three of his seven dribbles.
The Team of the Week honor marks the third for Goodrum since joining FC Tulsa this season and his second Player of the Week award. For Epps, his Team of the Week appearance signifies his second of the year.
Both players are back in action this Friday as FC Tulsa has the chance to win its fifth consecutive outing vs. Rio Grande Valley Toros FC, a streak that would match its franchise-best set in 2021.
