Costin Aided in Ipswich Town FC’s EFL Championship Promotion Last Season
TULSA – FC Tulsa is proud to announce the appointment of Andy Costin as the club’s new Director of Performance. With an impressive background and extensive experience in sport science and coaching, Costin is set to bring a new level of expertise to the club.
Costin joins FC Tulsa after a successful career that spans across multiple football and sporting organizations dating back to 2012. Most recently, the native of Gawler, South Australia served as Head of Sport Science & Insights at Ipswich Town Football Club in EFL League One, contributing to the club’s Championship promotion last season. While at Ipswich Town, Costin also served as a Visiting Senior Fellow in Sport Science at the University of Suffolk in Ipswich.
“I’m excited about what is happening in Tulsa and about the ambitions of the club,” said Costin. “I know a few people in the USL and they speak highly of Sam and Blair, not just as professionals, but more importantly as human beings. My goals are to create a high-performance department and culture that maximizes the potential of the players, as well as to be a key stakeholder in supporting the club in fulfilling its on-field and off-field ambitions.”
Throughout his career, Costin has demonstrated a commitment to individualized and evidence-based approaches to sport science monitoring and analysis. He excels in overseeing performance staff, implementing exercise programs, and utilizing data analysis tools and technologies to enhance athletic development.
At only 34 years old, Costin has amassed an impressive body of work in addition to his time at Ipswich Town. His specialty in sport science and data collection was put to use at Bristol City FC and Stevenage FC in England. Previously, in his home country of Australia, Costin served as the head coach at Limestone Coast Sporting Academy and Head of Sport at St Martins Lutheran College.
Costin will join the FC Tulsa technical staff in the coming weeks as he makes the move from the United Kingdom to Green Country.
