Bird Bagged First Goal of 2023 on Saturday
TULSA – A critical goal and breathtaking defensive display by Eric Bird were key factors in FC Tulsa’s 1-1 draw on Saturday. For his individual efforts, Bird has been named to the Week 10 Team of the Week by the USL Championship.
Bird accounted for the opening goal of the contest at Las Vegas Lights FC, a brilliant finish from 15 yards out following service from Marcus Epps. The goal was his first of the season and the 18th of his USL Championship career, including Playoffs.
On the other side of the ball, Bird turned in a sublime shift on defense. The man from Virginia Beach won all three of his attempted tackles and 8 of the 9 duels in which he participated, tied for the most of any player during the match. In addition, Bird won possession nine times throughout the contest and made five clearances.
Bird becomes the fourth FC Tulsa player to earn a Team of the Week honor in 2023, accompanying Blaine Ferri (Week 3), Marcus Epps (Week 3), and Brett Levis (Week 4).
Eric Bird and his FC Tulsa squad members are back in action this Friday night to host Memphis 901 FC at ONEOK Field. Tickets to the match are available here.
