FC Tulsa will Face Every USL-C Club for First Time in Franchise History
TAMPA, Fla. – As the new year looms only 12 days away and we continue to creep towards the upcoming season, the USL Championship has announced its 2023 conference alignment and playoff structure. FC Tulsa will once again compete in the league’s Eastern Conference and will play 34 matches, half of which will be hosted in the Oil Capital of the World.
Next season will mark the third consecutive year in which FC Tulsa has operated in the Eastern Conference following six campaigns spent playing in the West. For the first time in franchise history, FC Tulsa will match up with each of the other 23 clubs in the USL Championship. Tulsa will face off against each club in the East twice, once at home and once on the road, and each Western Conference opponent once.
With the new schedule structure, fans will have the opportunity to watch familiar foes at ONEOK Field, including rivals Birmingham Legion FC, Indy Eleven, and Louisville City FC, in addition to the likes of Detroit City FC, Memphis 901 FC, and the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
Last season, the top seven clubs in each Conference earned playoff berths, but in 2023, the top eight will all advance to the postseason. Under next year’s playoff framework, FC Tulsa would have clinched a spot in the 2022 postseason with its eighth-place finish in the East. In addition, no club will receive a bye week in the 2023 Playoffs. The No. 1 seed will play No. 8 in the first round, the second seed will play the seventh seed, etc.
The 2023 USL Championship schedule kicks off on Saturday, March 11 and will run through October 14, just as it did a season ago.
FC Tulsa’s home opener will be revealed in the near future followed by its complete 2023 schedule and accompanying theme nights. To catch all 17 home matches and to receive a multitude of benefits, discounts, and invites to exclusive events, secure your 2023 Club 918 Membership here.
