For the second time this week, an FC Tulsa player has received League recognition for their efforts in the club’s playoff matchup in Tampa Bay. This time, its goalkeeper Austin Wormell who has been nominated for Save of the Playoffs by the USL Championship!
Wormell made a plethora of tremendous saves in the match, but the nominated effort came in the 70’ minute when Steevan Dos Santos got the ball off a cross for the Rowdies right in front of Wormell’s goal. The Tulsa native was forced to react quickly to the point-blank attempt and was able to throw his left hand down to the ground to send the ball over the crossbar on a play that seemed to defy the laws of physics.
The save kept the deficit to two in the match at the time, proving crucial to keep FC Tulsa within striking distance heading into the final 20 minutes of the match.
