TAMPA – Following a triumphant defense of the Wrench last weekend, it was fitting that an FC Tulsa defender would be honored on the USL Championship’s final Team of the Week of 2021. Captain Bradley Bourgeois, who helped pitch a shutout and chipped in an assist in a 2-0 win over OKC Energy FC, was named to his third Team of the Week of 2021, the most for any FC Tulsa player this season.
Seeking to go 3-for-3 in winning the Wrench for Tulsa, Bourgeois was electric at right back throughout the 90 minutes at ONEOK Field on Saturday night. Bourgeois provided stellar defense with five interceptions and 10 recoveries, both the most of any player in the match.
In addition, Bourgeois helped push the offense with three key passes, the most on FC Tulsa, and his Wrench-winning assist. He also completed 54 of 61 passes with five total crosses, completing three of them.
The win secured the Black Gold Derby series against OKC Energy FC, winning FC Tulsa its second consecutive Wrench and third in franchise history over its in-state rivals. Bourgeois has been a part of all three Wrench-winning teams (2017, 2020, 2021) and has yet to suffer a Black Gold Derby series defeat.
Bourgeois will now lead FC Tulsa into the postseason this coming Saturday as the team will travel to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Kickoff for the match is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast locally on My41 Tulsa and nationally on ESPN+.
