Joaquín Rivas has been nominated by the USL Championship for Goal of the Week for his 11’ minute stunner on Saturday night vs OKC Energy FC.
In the 23rd Black Gold Derby with the Wrench on the line, Rivas lined up a screamer from distance, burying the shot into the bottom right corner. The strike would prove to be the match winner as Rivas extended his lead as the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Black Gold Derby. It was FC Tulsa’s fourth goal from outside the box this season and was Rivas' first.
Lebo Moloto got the assist on the play, threading a beautiful pass through the middle of the field to find the foot of the Salvadorian. Rivas’ sixth goal of the season caused ONEOK to erupt as FC Tulsa won the Wrench for the second time in as many seasons.
