TULSA – Rodrigo da Costa continues to be one of the hottest players in the USL Championship. On Tuesday afternoon, da Costa earned a Team of the Week honor for Week 12, following his one goal, one assist performance in FC Tulsa’s 3-2 win over Louisville City FC on Saturday. It’s the second Team of the Week honor this season for da Costa, who was also named to the TOTW for Week 10.
Da Costa had another standout performance in Tulsa’s first-ever victory over Louisville, assisting on the match’s opening goal, and then providing what was ultimately the match-winner himself late in the first half.
Since the calendar flipped to June, da Costa has been dominant, scoring five goals while adding three assists over his last seven matches. The Brazilian attacker is a finalist for the USL Championship’s Player of the Month for June and is already making his mark in July.
With his six goals and four assists through 11 matches in 2021, da Costa is on pace for a rare “double-double” season with 10+ goals and 10+ assists. The feat has only been accomplished five times in league history.
