TULSA – FC Tulsa fans won’t miss a second of soccer in 2021. The club will continue its landmark TV deal with broadcast partner Cox Media Group and FOX23 to air all 32 of its USL Championship regular season matches locally this season on sister station My41 Tulsa (KMYT-TV). In addition to its full USL Championship regular season schedule, FC Tulsa broadcasts will kick off with its preseason on April 17 airing on FOX23 (KOKI-TV).
“Over the last calendar year, Cox Media Group has been an invaluable partner, helping to elevate our brand across Tulsa,” said FC Tulsa president James Cannon. “Pro sports fans should expect to turn on the TV to watch their local team play. This TV agreement allows our fans in Tulsa to cheer on FC Tulsa, free of charge, for every minute of every home and road match.”
The upcoming preseason broadcast will be a historic one as FC Tulsa’s match against Austin Bold FC on April 17 at 2 p.m. CT will air on FOX23. It will be the first time that FC Tulsa has played on major network TV locally in Tulsa in its USL Championship history.
“KMYT My41 will once again provide Tulsa viewers with live coverage of FC Tulsa home and away match-ups throughout the 2021 USL season,” said Cathy Gunther, GM and Market VP of Cox Media Group Tulsa. “We are excited to carry the team’s special Season Opening Friendly Match with Austin Bold on April 17, live on Fox23, just prior to the Fox Sports MLS broadcast later that day. It should be a terrific day of soccer coverage on Fox23.”
FC Tulsa will also return both members of its broadcasting booth in David Saunders and Anna Beffer. Saunders and Beffer will be in the booth for the April 17 preseason match and for all regular season home matches in 2021.
Saunders is a broadcasting veteran, returning for his 7th season with the franchise. The Exeter, England native began his broadcasting career calling English Football League matches for his hometown club of Exeter City before moving stateside to Tulsa. Locally, Saunders has also called soccer matches for the University of Tulsa and Oral Roberts University.
Meanwhile, Beffer will be back in the booth for her second season on the mic for FC Tulsa. The former Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year and Oklahoma State University star was one of just two female commentators in the USL Championship last season. Before her transition to the booth, Beffer was a standout midfielder at OSU and played professionally in France.
