CHRISTINA WEST – ATHLETIC TRAINER
Christina West joins FC Tulsa for the 2023 season after nearly five years spent as an athletic trainer for the University of Oklahoma. At OU, West aided its soccer program and worked closely with strength and conditioning coaches, sports psychologists, dietitians, and the coaching staff. She would later transition to work with the OU’s track and field team, expanding her knowledge and skillset.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, West earned her Masters of Science Health & Human Performance degree from Oklahoma State University in 2017. She played soccer throughout her undergraduate collegiate career before assuming a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer position for OSU’s tennis team while attending grad school at the Big XII university. West played a key role in the success of the women’s team as the Cowgirls won the regular season conference title, Big XII Tournament title, and finished as the NCAA Runners-Up in 2016. The following season, OSU followed up its success with an Elite Eight appearance in 2017.
West then worked as an assistant athletic trainer with the NWSL’s FC Kansas City where she became the first assistant athletic trainer in the NWSL. She also worked with the FC Kansas City Developmental Academy and the Kansas City Comets while participating in ODP and US Soccer events.
“I’m excited to join FC Tulsa and work with Coach Gavin and the rest of the staff,” said West. “There is a great vision for the club and I am excited to help the athletes reach their goals.”
