TULSA – Marlon Santos is entering the second year of the multi-year contract he signed before 2020, and the Brazilian is looking to build on another season of electrifying runs and spectacular plays on the wing for FC Tulsa.
“To return means playing another season giving my blood, sweat and tears for the club and my teammates,” Marlon said. “I will work hard to improve my individual performance to help the collective. A high-level player must grow and improve every day.”
Since his arrival in Tulsa in August of 2019, Marlon Santos has lit up the USL Championship. He scored five goals and added three assists in nine appearances in 2019, and 2020 brought with it three more goals from the Brazilian, third on the team, and another assist.
Coach Nsien added Marlon in the middle of a tough 2019 season, and his addition sparked a run of 18 points in nine matches, the best stretch of the campaign by far.
“Coach Nsien is an excellent professional I intend to help him in every possible way,” Marlon said. “I have grown close with him and he will lead this team to achieve our goals.”
Marlon appeared in every match for FC Tulsa in 2020, starting 13 of them. He was brilliant on the right flank for FC Tulsa, scoring in each of the final two matches of 2020 in front of the fans at ONEOK Field.
“I want to give a lot of joy to all the Tulsa fans that I was away from in this difficult world of the COVID,” Marlon said. “I want to give all the joy I can to those fans who help us and give us strength on match days.”
Marlon, along with defender Bradley Bourgeois and midfielders Lebo Moloto and Rodrigo da Costa, are the four players returning on the second year of their multiyear contracts.
FC Tulsa’s 2021 Roster currently looks like this:
Goalkeepers: Sean Lewis
Defenders: Bradley Bourgeois, Solomon Kwambe, Matt Sheldon, Kevin Garcia
Midfielders: Rodrigo da Costa, Lebo Moloto
Forwards: Joaquín Rivas, Darío Suárez, Marlon
