TULSA – FC Tulsa is proud to unveil the work of local artist Sarah Sullivan for the club’s “Art of Sport” initiative, where FC Tulsa commissioned local artists to design matchday posters for the club. Sullivan’s design is the official matchday poster for Saturday’s home match against Sporting Kansas City II.
A Tulsa native, Sullivan is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a BFA in Textile Design.
“I’ve lived in Tulsa pretty much my entire life, so it’s been fun to see the city's evolution in the world of sports over the years,” Sullivan said. “I remember the old baseball field and went to Roughnecks games, so now it feels extra special to be a part of the first season of FC Tulsa at ONEOK. Honestly, I didn’t pay much attention to soccer growing up, and I’ve only recently become what you’d consider a true fan. I think all of the USA is finally getting into soccer on a local level, and I love seeing Tulsa as a part of that wave.”

Sullivan’s poster was inspired by vintage soccer posters from different eras of the game, including the 1940s, the 1998 World Cup, and more.“I have a postcard based on an old Saint-Denis FC poster that I’ve always loved just for the illustration,” Sullivan said. “That got me thinking about the minimal, color-blocked design of vintage sports posters. There are some pretty killer ones from past Olympics. I combined that idea with my own vocabulary of shapes and put it in the FC Tulsa color palette. Voila!”

FC Tulsa began the “Art of Sport” initiative in 2020 as a way to connect and engage with the Tulsa art community to create a design that would serve as the primary matchday look among match presentation on video boards and signage around ONEOK Field and on FC Tulsa’s social media and website. The poster will also be for sale at the match for fans to purchase.
“Most people might not be in the market for art at a soccer game, so I hope it’s a pleasant surprise for them,” Sullivan said. “I think it’s a pretty cool Tulsa keepsake made entirely by local artists: my design, printed by Flash Flood studios.”
