TULSA – With the United Soccer League’s announcement that its teams in the USL Championship could begin training in small groups starting May 11 in compliance with state and local health guidelines, FC Tulsa will start small group training sessions on Monday as it continues preparation for a possible resumption of the 2020 season.
FC Tulsa will conduct training following all health recommendations and conditions set forth by a coronavirus task force which includes members of U.S. Soccer, Major League Soccer (MLS), the USL and the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
“We are ready to resume training at our facility in the safest manner for our players, coaches and training staff,” said FC Tulsa president James Cannon. “Even in small groups, our players are itching to get back out on the pitch.
At this time, training sessions will remain closed to media, but steps are being taken to safely allow media members to access training in the coming weeks.
While the USL Championship season remains suspended, FC Tulsa will continue to give back to the Tulsa community. The club is currently matching every dollar donated to Philbrook Art Museum with a $500,000 matching gift to help Philbrook remain a pillar of our city. The club also continues to raise money for the Tulsa Area COVID-19 Response Fund through sales of its Tulsa-centric merchandise.
