From players to coaches to those in the front office, we are all catching up on our favorite shows or discovering new ones on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney+ and more.
We have put together a definitive list of what FC Tulsa is streaming right now with some comments from those watching. If you want some help picking your next show, here are some of our favorites.
(One quick side note before we jump in here – we are an Oklahoma-based team and have all seen Tiger King. All of the U.S. has seen Tiger King. If you haven’t seen Tiger King, you should. We won’t include it on this list because it’s obvious.)
1) Ozark – 10 votes. The Netflix American crime drama received the most votes from members of FC Tulsa. Players in particular love the drug cartel-based show that features Hollywood stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney.
“Super cool take on cartel life and how a supposedly normal family can get into illegal business like that. I think it’s awesome. I’ve watched almost 3 seasons in a week and a half.” – Ciaran Winters, Midfielder
“Ozark is very intense and mysterious. I think the show draws you in, keeps you on edge, and makes you want to keep watching.” – Bryan Byars, Goalkeeper
“It’s interesting how a regular guy and family can be tied into drug cartel. I’ve been hooked since Season 1.” – Cyprian Hedrick, Defender

2) Sunderland ’Til I Die – 7 votes. The English soccer documentary about Sunderland AFC that drew rave reviews after a compelling and heartbreaking first season in 2018, just released a 6-episode second season that has captivated members of FC Tulsa as well as soccer fans globally.
“I love seeing the impact that a football club can have on the community. I think it is fascinating because it shows me the similarities and differences in life around our football clubs.” – Sean Lewis, Goalkeeper

3) Las Casa de Papel (Money Heist) – 3 votes. The Spanish TV heist drama that Netflix has picked up revolves around a massive robbery of the Royal Mint of Spain. Dubbed in English, Netflix has helped broaden its reach to new audiences.

“Yo estoy mirando esta programa porque quiero aprender español. La programa es fantástica. La recomiendo.” – Eric Bird, Midfielder
4) Old favorite comedies (The Office, Community, New Girl, Psych) – 1 vote each. While new shows get all the headlines, some players and members of the front office are sticking with the old classics to get them through the pandemic.

“I'm watching Psych on Amazon Prime. It's a crime show that's also funny and references a bunch of 80s pop culture, I love it. I've probably seen it through like 10 times, but it’s my go-to whenever I'm between shows.” – John Horlander, Communications Coordinator

Creating its own separate genre in the States on streaming services, British drams have become a favorite of Americans in the last five years. The English Game is set around the game of soccer, an obvious choice here, while Peaky Blinders is an early 20th century gangster drama.
