TULSA – FC Tulsa remained unbeaten in preseason as it drew Oral Roberts University 1-1 in front of nearly 200 fans at Holland Hall School in a preseason scrimmage on Wednesday night. It was local product Ciaran Winters, a Tulsa native, who drew FC Tulsa level in the second half with his first goal in a professional uniform.
The midweek match provided FC Tulsa head coach Mike Nsien a chance to see a number of trialists and reserves on the pitch as he looks to make final roster decisions in the coming weeks. Many of the FC Tulsa players who have started the early preseason friendlies either were rested for the match, or played very sparingly.
After ORU opened the scoring in the 11' minute, Tulsa's defense stiffened and played clean the rest of the first half as the offense looked to equalize. The score held until the break as
Fifteen minutes into the second half, FC Tulsa made its breakthrough. Winters slipped in behind the defense and latched onto a long ball from an FC Tulsa trialist. It was clinical from there as Winters made no mistake with a confident shot inside the far post.
FC Tulsa was the better side for the remainder of the match, but a few close calls weren't enough to earn the victory as the match would finish 1-1, keeping FC Tulsa unbeaten in the preseason.
The club will play its third preseason match in seven days, and fourth overall, when it travels to Claremore, Oklahoma to take on Rogers State University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
