“It was awesome, really professional, and it was exciting to get in front of the cameras and do all the photos and videos that you see the huge clubs doing all around Europe and everything,” Matt Sheldon said, “So it was very cool and very exciting, and I can’t wait to see the finished product.”
While media day was primarily an opportunity to gather videos and photos of each individual player for the upcoming season, it was also an opportunity for players to come out of their shell. Many showed a lighter side in front of the many cameras in the studio.
“It is just really fun for us, we get to see all the different personalities and how people carry themselves,” said Cyprian Hedrick, “You get to see the green screen and little fun stuff and being silly so it is a good way for us to bond and get to know each other as well.”
For the many international players from around the globe on FC Tulsa's squad, the pictures and videos gathered at media will be an opportunity for loved ones abroad to see their favorite players.
“I’m actually so excited, I cannot wait for those pictures to come out,” said Toby Uzo, “It’s important to keep your fans, family, and friends all around the world entertained on social media. So all the stuff we did there is pretty exciting and I cannot wait for them to come out.”
For the players, the day meant more than just a chance to share photos. It was another example of the investment in the club to put soccer on a pedestal in Tulsa.
“It is just motivating because you see a lot of investment going into you and the club and everything,” said Sheldon, “It just makes you want to work that much harder and produce for all the investment that’s going into you.”
The players also had the opportunity to check out the brand new 2020 kits a bit early. Needless to say, the players were excited to see the new color scheme on the jersey and put their own kit on for the first time.
“Oh yeah, they are fire, I love the [redacted] ones, the [redacted] ones are really really good,” said Uzo.
Matt Sheldon added, “I think they are sick. I think the [redacted] one is amazing, and I can’t wait to wear that.”
With the kits will be revealed soon, players are just as excited to see the fan reactions of the kit in the brand new colors of FC Tulsa.
“I think they are amazing so I can’t wait to see what the fans think of the kits,” said Sheldon.
