TULSA, Oklahoma (Thursday, April 25, 2019) – The Tulsa Roughnecks FC will aim to aim to continue their move up the Western Conference standings when it hosts in-state rival Oklahoma City Energy FC for the first leg of the Black Gold Derby this Saturday, April 27th. The Roughnecks go into Saturday’s match in 2nd place in the USL Championship’sWestern Conference standings coming off a 2-0 victory over the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Wednesday evening. Kickoff from ONEOK Field is set for 7:00 P.M. CST and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
This will be the first of two meetings between both teams this season. Saturday’s match will be the sixteenth match all-time between the two sides, with the Roughnecks trailing the series 3-9-3. Oklahoma City (3-3-1, 10 points) enter Saturday’s match following a 1-0 victory over Orange County SC on April 20th.
The Energy currently ranks 7th in the USL Championship’s Western Conference standings.
The Energy are coached by native Englishman, Steve Cooke. Cooke was named the Head Coach of the Oklahoma City Energy FC on December 19th, 2017. Prior to joining Energy FC in 2018, Cooke served as a coach at several levels with the Colorado Rapids of MLS.
The Roughnecks will have their eyes on Energy forward, Deshorn Brown who has scored three goals in three appearances.
