TULSA, OK – The Roughnecks played host to the Portland Timbers 2 in their USL Championship season home opener. The game would finish with a 1-1 draw with the Roughnecks opening up the scoring early on in the 12thminute with a goal from Cristhian Altamirano. The half would finish with the Roughnecks leading 1-0. Shortly after the second half was underway the Timbers equalized the score with a goal from Modou Jadama. The game would finish with a total of 4 yellow cards given out, 3 of which the Roughnecks were on the receiving end.
“I knew Portland would be a good test, I think it was a good test of our character. We bent a couple of times but didn’t break. We had a player out for an injury but we’re excited and feel we have a lot of potential. For the next game we want to continue to build and score goals, “said Michael Nsien (Head Coach), “We’ll show the other team that we’re a ceaseless threat and they’ll be under constant pressure.”
The Roughnecks will be back in action next Saturday, March 16thwhen they travel to Southern California to take on Orange County Soccer Club.
