The Tulsa Roughnecks FC travel to south Texas on Saturday, July7 for the first of two meetings this season with the Rio Grande Valley FC Toros. Both sides will be looking for just their second wins of the season. Kickoff at H-E-B Park in Edinburg, Texas is scheduled for 7:03 p.m. CDT.
It will the first away match for new TRFC Head Coach Michael Nsien. Nsien collected a home win and a draw last week in his first two matches in charge of the Roughnecks.
TRFC is 3-1-1 all-time against the Toros and has never lost at Rio Grande. The Roughnecks recorded a 0-0 draw at RGV in the Toros inaugural season of 2016 and recorded a 1-0 away victory last season.
On paper, the match figures to be low-scoring as Tulsa is 30th in the USL with 15 goals scored, while RGV is tied with Oklahoma City for last with 14. Defensively, the Toros have logged six clean sheets this season.
The Roughnecks are 0-4-4 in matches away from ONEOK Field this season, with three of the losses coming in the last three away games.
RGV has played consecutive 0-0 draws in its last two matches and is 0-3-2 in its last five matches. The Toros only win this season came in a 2-0 home victory over Orange County on April 25. They are 1-1-7 in nine home matches this season.
