Tulsa, OK – Tulsa Roughnecks F.C. has agreed to terms with Paris Gee on a new contract as Coach David Vaudreuil continues to form the 2018 roster. The one-year deal is pending league and federation approval.
Gee is the second announced signing for the Roughnecks this offseason as the defender/midfielder played a key role in the Roughnecks successful 2017 campaign. The British Columbia native made 19 appearances for TRFC (10 starts) during the regular season as he helped solidify the club’s backline late in the season.
“Paris is a young player who came in and worked really hard on his game and earned a starting spot during the playoff run,” said Vaudreuil. “He tactically adjusted to our system to the point where he was a very important piece of the puzzle. He is a young guy with a lot of upside and we are very excited to have re-signed him.”
Thanks to his strong play at the end of the regular season, Gee started in the Roughnecks first-ever USL playoff matchup against San Antonio FC where he produced his highlight moment of the year. Facing the eventual USL Goalkeeper of the Year, Diego Restrepo for San Antonio, Gee scored the opening goal of the match 23 minutes into the contest with a brilliant right-footed strike from 25 yards out. It was also the first goal of the season for Gee.
Prior to joining the Roughnecks, the 23-year-old Gee played two seasons for NK Rudes in Croatia, making 35 appearances. He also played in one collegiate season for NCAA Division II Simon Fraser University which is the only Canadian university in the NCAA.
