Schafer helped to anchor a backline that held STLFC to only two shots on goal as the Roughnecks claimed their fourth shutout of the season. It was the second start for the center back since joining Tulsa on July 9, and the Roughnecks have recorded clean sheets in both of the matches.
Schafer began the season with the Pittsburgh RiverHounds of the USL and has previously played for Vaasan Palloseura in Finland’s Premier League. He played collegiately at Mars Hill University in North Carolina.
TRFC midfielder Gustavo Villalobos received a bench spot on the Team of the Week. Villalobos scored the opening goal in the Roughnecks 2-0 win over Saint Louis.
