It will be a meeting of undefeated sides, as both teams were victorious in their season opening games. The Roughnecks blanked Rio Grande Valley 2-0 last Saturday at ONEOK Field, while the Rangers topped Portland Timbers 2 by a 2-1 score line in Kansas City.
It was the first home shutout ever for the Roughnecks who failed to blank an opponent at ONEOK Field last season. Tulsa did not record its first shutout in 2015 until the eighth match of the year, and it was one of only four clean sheets kept by the Roughnecks in their first season.
The match represents the second of three home games for TRFC to open the 2016 season.
Pre-match activities on Saturday will get underway at 4:30PM with the Roughnecks Rally on Elgin Avenue, just outside ONEOK Field. The Roustabouts, the team’s official supporters group, will be on hand as will La Union 918, a new supporter’s group for the team. Soft drinks, beer and snacks will be for sale at the Rally.
There will be a number of games and activities for fans of all ages to enjoy. They include soccer tennis, cornhole, a face painter, a balloon artist and temporary Roughnecks tattoos.
At 6:45pm, all fans are invited to participate in the March to the Match that will be led by the Roustabouts. The March will begin at the Oil Derrick Entrance and conclude at The Rig, the seating section of the Roustabouts.
Roughnecks players will be available for photos and autographs on the field at the conclusion of the match. Later, the Roughnecks players will also be at an After Match Party at Lefty’s on Greenwood, giving fans another chance to meet the squad.
Tickets for the match, and all other matches this season, are available online at TulsaRoughnecksFC.com, over the telephone at (918)744-5901 or in-person at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office. A number of season ticket packages are also still available.

He was an unused substitute in the SPR’s victory over Timbers 2. . . .WHAT A DEBUT – Midfielder Carlos Martinez made his Roughnecks debut in last Saturday’s opener, and he made a big impression. They were given the name Swope Park Rangers because they play most of their home matches in Kansas City at the Swope Soccer Village which is located in the city’s historic Swope Park. In addition, the moniker was also used to refer to Sporting’s reserve team. . . .ON THE MEND – Cristian Mata missed the Roughnecks’ opening match because of a leg injury, but the Tulsa product is expected to be available for Head Coach David Irving against the Rangers. . . .FIRST OF 4 – Saturday’s meeting will be one of four this season between TRFC and Sporting KC’s 2 side. The Roughnecks will play their three closest rivals (Swope Park, Saint Louis FC, OKC Energy) four times each this season as the USL looks to increase regional rivalries. . . .ATTENDANCE – Paid attendance for Saturday’s opener at ONEOK Field was 5,328, making it the fourth highest home crowd in the franchise’s brief history.
