Dane Jacomen secured his sixth clean sheet in his last nine matches as FC Tulsa earned a road point against San Antonio FC on Saturday night in a scoreless draw at Toyota Field.
The hosts controlled much of the early going with Jacomen called into action to prevent a few San Antonio scoring threats. The Scissortails were only able to create one shot in the opening 45 minutes and only had the ball 39 percent of the frame.
Things opened up a bit for Tulsa coming out of the locker room with the substitution of Remi Cabral livening up the attack, but ultimately, the attack could not find the back of the net. The back line for the Black and Gold lived up to their end of the bargain, however, and finished off their tenth clean sheet of the regular season, tying a club-best mark.
KEY STORYLINES
Recently, FC Tulsa announced long-term extensions for General Manager and Sporting Director Caleb Sewell and Head Coach Luke Spencer. Both have radically transformed the club’s on-field product in just under two seasons at the helm and immediately led the Scissortails to their best season in club history in 2025, culminating in a Western Conference championship last season and hosting the USL Championship Final, both firsts for the club. These moves reflect the club’s intentions to be among the league’s best in its on and off-field endeavors as the next chapter for FC Tulsa begins.
Jacomen’s sixth clean sheet of the regular season was good enough to earn him a spot on the USL Championship Team of the Week. His five saves were his second most in league play this season as he continued his impeccable form between the sticks.
The Western Conference has been a bloodbath in 2026 with the gap between third place and tenth a mere six points. FC Tulsa are currently in a three-way tie for third place, ahead of San Antonio but behind Orange County, but has matches in hand on both El Paso and Orange County. As the club continues to get players back from injury, the Scissortails are in prime position to make a late charge with matches left against four of its top six challengers.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Goalkeeper Dane Jacomen: Jacomen has been unreal since taking over the starting role in mid-July, allowing just three goals in his last nine starts with six clean sheets in this stretch. He currently boasts a staggering 0.50 GAA (goals allowed average) and an 83.8% save percentage in the regular season, cementing himself as a force to be reckoned with between the sticks for the Scissortails.
Defender Delentz Pierre: The Haitian defender has started the last four matches for the Scissortails on the back line and been a key contributor to the club’s recent defensive prowess. From scoring his first goal for Tulsa on a beautiful low-struck free kick against Orange County to his stellar on-ball defending, he has reminded Tulsa fans of his skillset and figures to be a player to watch as the playoff push deepens.
Midfielder Jeorgio Kocevski: Only two Scissortails have played in every single match across all competitions in 2026. One is Jamie Webber, and the other is Kocevski, an unsung hero for this club in the midfield. The Syracuse grad has grown immensely in his central midfield role over the course of the season and has been able to get more involved in the attack in recent weeks since Giordano Colli was inserted into the starting lineup above him in the formation. As the Black and Gold have dealt with injuries and new additions taking time to build chemistry, Kocevski has been a consistent presence and will be called on as the playoff push continues.

This is the 19th meeting between Tulsa and Phoenix with a dead-even split across all competitions as each side holds six wins in the series. Tulsa are unbeaten in its last five matches against Phoenix across all competitions including a dramatic 1-0 win in last season’s Western Conference Semifinals on Stefan Lukic’s strike in the 122nd minute.
Pa Modou-Kah’s side has struggled in 2026 compared to its 2025 standard but still find themselves just a point out of a playoff spot. They have heated up as of late, unbeaten in their last four matches with victories in three of its last four contests in Arizona. Ihsan Sacko is enjoying a career year in 2026 as he ranks second in goals (12) and goal contributions (16) in the USL Championship and fifth in chances created (47).
