TULSA, Okla. (August 28, 2026) — FC Tulsa announced today that it has signed General Manager and Sporting Director Caleb Sewell to a long-term contract extension.
Since Sewell’s arrival in Oklahoma, the Scissortails have reached new heights on the pitch under his leadership culminating in a Western Conference championship last season and hosting the USL Championship Final, both firsts for the club. The club has continued that trajectory in 2026 as it fights to bring more playoff soccer to the 918.
“We are thrilled to extend Caleb as our General Manager and Sporting Director,” Club Owner and President Ryan Craft said. “His leadership and expertise have been instrumental as we continue to grow and strive for excellence. We continue to work towards building a team on and off the field that not only competes at the highest level but also deepens our roots within the Tulsa community.”
This February, Sewell oversaw the club-record sale of Taylor Calheira to Sporting Kansas City after the forward broke the club single season scoring record with 21 goals across all competitions in 2025. The transfer fee ranks in the top five all-time between clubs in the USL Championship and Major League Soccer. Off the field, Sewell has strengthened the club’s community ties with the creation of Adult League and Futsal programs while also starting up the Community Camp Champion program to provide more playing opportunities for youth in Tulsa.
“We want to make sure that in Tulsa, we are setting the standard in USL wherever we can,” Sewell said. “We want to make sure that we’re a contender year in, year out with no excuses. We want to make sure that this is a place where players are taken care of. This is a beautiful city to live in. The fans are passionate. We’ve got a top training facility in the league. This is a process that takes time, but over the next few years here, my goal is to make sure that we strive for the top in everything in USL, and I want to be very bullish on that.”
As a general manager, Sewell has led clubs to top four seeds each of the last four seasons between his time with FC Tulsa and Memphis 901 FC. He has helped acquire and develop eight USL Championship All-League players in that stretch with Calheira and Lamar Batista earning those honors for the Scissortails in 2025. Prior to his front office experience, Sewell had an 18-year professional playing career which featured stops in the Brisbane Premier League (Australia), Primera Liga (Portugal), Major League Soccer and USL Championship while also spending time in Anderlecht and Liverpool’s youth systems.
2025 was a banner year for the Scissortails with club records set in points (57), wins (22), goals (68), goal differential (+29), shutouts (15) and goals allowed average (0.95). The first place finish in the regular season meant that the West ran through Oklahoma as FC Tulsa went on to earn the first piece of hardware in club history securing the Western Conference championship.
