TULSA, Okla. (August 13, 2026) – FC Tulsa announced today that it has signed defender Joel Sangwa for the rest of the 2026 season with an option for 2027, pending league and federation approval.
“Joel has grown in his role throughout the 25-day contract that he was on and deserves to be on our roster through the end of the season,” said Sporting Director and General Manager Caleb Sewell. “We look forward to Joel helping us achieve our objectives down the back stretch of the season.”
Sangwa was signed to a 25-day contract back on July 17 and has since appeared in five matches, including four starts, compiling 329 minutes played. Since his arrival, the Tulsa back line compiled four straight shutouts as part of a club record 441-minute streak in the regular season of not conceding a goal. He has provided a spark in the right wingback role showing great on-ball defensive skills while also creating attacking threats.
